I have a S&W Model 57-1 with a 8 3/8" barrel thinking about getting a shorter barrel like 2.5-3" and carring it every now and then. For those of ya'll that don't know a model 57 is chambered in .41 Remington Mag.

I'd go with 3"-4" if that's the case. A big ass revolver like that isn't going to benefit a lot from a sub-3" barrel for "carryability".

Personally, I'd just go get a .38 J or K frame for carry.

i think regardless if you carry it or not you've got a sweet gun. gotta love .41 mag!

but yeah a 4" barrel would probably be better to get a little more out of the cartridge than a snub. gotta remember, its not the barrel that's hard to hide!

I carry a snubby 44 Spl from time to time. I have to say though its not a comfortable as a auto and harder to conceal.
If carrying IWB its even more uncomfortable IMO.

I always thought it a good idea to carry the same weapon all the time....in the milisecond you need it theres no fumbling of fingers in the wrong spot.

Sweet? I figure that would depend on which direction you are looking at it. I can just hear some BG saying "man, please don't shoot me with that sweet gun."
