Don't pull your guns on me just yet...

Just something to think about:
With the talks of a new party having more of the true conservative values, like a "Tea Party" or whatever; which I believe Palin will be heading that movement...

If this were to form (or has started to form); this would pull many republicans over, as well, independents away; but leaving many democrats still stuck on Obama..(hmmmm) Splitting the republican party and recreating the Bush/Perot/Clinton type of scenario all over again...

Don't get me wrong, I believe that having Regan Era Conservative party again will our country back in line. But if we are not careful, we could get Obama once again...

I agree with your take on a third party, it can work "if" enough support can be gathered prior to election for a third party otherwise the media will simply divide the voters once again on race and the leftist win again.

If voters want their country back the liberals/progressives/communist(difficult to tell them apart)must be stopped or America faces some horrible times ahead.

I believe there are many unhappy democrats out there right now as well.
I have spoken to many people this past year that I would have taken as Republicans.
Definitely conservatives by the way they talk, but much to my surprise they were Democrats. And they were none to happy with what Obama, Nancy and Mr Reed are doing right now. They voted for Bam Bam and regret it.
I think with the rise of a third party (which I think is unavoidable now) the two parties will be split. And it seems that the bigger part of the independents are conservative.
I am probably wrong but I see no less than 2/3 of the country voting conservative in the next election (2010) and at least a small portion of those elected will be third party.
I am hoping that 2012 sees anyone but a Democrat as President and I would be very happy if it were NOT a Republican.
I think it is past time for a third part winner as President. What a slap in the face to the Dems and Reps if that happened. The people standing as one saying "We are mad as hell and we are not taking your CRAP any more"
If Palin runs on any ticket in 2012. I will be out campaigning for her.
Don't have any money any more. Obama has seen to that. But I still have my two legs (for now)(unless Obama takes those before 2012) and they have got to be good for something.

No one ever seems to mention that the GOP was once a "third party" in the long ago and far away. If we refuse to stand on our principals, the country will just drift on the way it's going, with the republicans hunkered in a corner, trying not to upset the damacrats. The eastern republicans,(and I fear, our senators) are not leaders, have no firm convictions, and wilt at adversity

There will be equal fragmentation of the Democratic party as well. Many of the conservative Democrats aren't happy, and many of the socialist Democrats aren't happy. Simply put, Obama is trying to please everyone, and simply pissing off ... everyone.

A third party will depend on the GOPs reaction to it's voter base becoming more vocal. The election for Governor here in Texas, and the upcoming 2010 elections, will be a strong indication of how either party will fair.

People are mad, but I think you'll see a greater "Come to Jesus" movement internally in the two major parties. Neither of them want to give breathing room to a 3rd party.

Neither party can afford a 3rd party. If the GOP tries as they have done in the past and be all things to all people they are doomed and the 3rd party will rise and carry a lot of votes which could hand the Dems the oval office back - IMO!

I don't think we (the US) will not be ready for a 3 party system come 2012. Maybe some day, but not by 2012. If that does happen in 2012 Obama will for sure be back in. The main stream media will treat the third party (whatever it is called) as a joke, and more Republicans than Democrats will cross over. Independents will probably be split pretty evenly between the three, with maybe just a little more going to the new party. But the end result will be 4 more years of Obama dragging the country down.

If this new party does emerge, then I hope my assessment is incorrect.

Presently we should concentrate on electing people that will replace the toadies of obama and himself of course, and not look to a Third Party yet.
It would be terrible to support a worthy Third Party person and split the vote and allow the scum that are incombents to win re election. If Palin runs, I pray that she will run as GOP so we can avoid a mess. After seeing Huckabee on Fox regularly, I rather wish he'd been the front runner besides McCain. I like him and Palin.....

Sure don't want to see another 1992 fiasco where Peeroe splits conservatives and a demo wins with 45% of the vote.

Think about it. Once again 95% of blacks will vote for Obammy. If he continues to slide and Hitlery gets nominated, still 90% of blacks will vote democrat. It's all they have ever done, it's like eating watermelon to them. Vote? Democrat! They would rather sacrifice their first born then vote Republican.

So the battle is to win conservatives and get independents to swing more to the right. They thought Centrist McCain could do it, but he lost many conservatives and most illiterate independents voted Obammy anyway, because of his promises. He campaigned to the center, is very left now.

Long way to go. Who is to say who will emerge. But, like someone said, 2010 will determine a lot. If Repugs make a lot of gains, great. If they take over either house or senate, super.

People should realize that the "two party system" is a setup, and a pretty ingenious one at that. Just think about it. If you have something you want to accomplish, you offer people two options, two sides of the same coin if you will, and instead of seeing a third or fourth option most of them will feel they have to choose one or the other. There has never been any clearer of an example of this than Obama. Just take a look at how he's broken every single promise, has continued the war despite what he said, and is basically more of the same. Both the Democrat and Republican parties are far too corrupt to ever accomplish anything of any meaning as far as I'm concerned. Our only hope is third party or independent votes for people that understand the true meaning of the Constitution and who are willing to stand up in the face of all this insanity and tear down the fraud that is Democracy so that we can return back to a true Republic as we were intended to be. Don't be fooled by red vs. blue, that's just choosing smiley face socialism or faux-Conservative socialism.

palin is the reason mccain lost, she's an idiot. he should have picked condoleeza rice then he might have won

McCain short armed the campaign if you ask me. From suspending his campaign & still voting for TARP, being too much of a puss to criticize DOHbama, to railing against Bill Cunningham for saying Barack HUSSEIN Obama. And now all you hear is:

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Barack Hussein Obama, Mmm Mmm Mmm

But the real reason he lost was the lap dog media wanted to make history instead of reporting and investigating. DOHbama was not vetted by the media.

McCAIN is the reason McCain lost. I mean, you can honor him for his service, but somewhere, you have to draw a line. The entire political organization needs to be stood on it's head.

Palin????

palin is the reason mccain lost, she's an idiot. he should have picked condoleeza rice then he might have won

First, Rice repeatedly has said she will not run.

I get many of the same rants on the open boards where many liberals post. They can't back any of it up, they just blurt out the Dailykos, Moveon talking points.

Here's just a sampling of what Palin has done -------

Palin spent eight years in city government, winning a seat on the Wasilla City Council in 1992 mostly thanks to her opposition to tax increases. She went on to serve two council terms from 1992 to 1996. She was elected mayor of the fast-growing Anchorage suburb in 1996 and again in 1999. Mayor Palin had a record of reducing property tax levels, increasing municipal services and attracting new industry to her town. During her tenure in Wassilla, she was elected chair of Alaska's conference of mayors. Next for Sarah Palin was service as chair of the Alaska Conservation Committee, a board which regulates the state's oil and gas industry. In this appointive position she began to gain what would become extensive and valuable knowledge and experience in the area of one of America's most pressing issues - energy. It was in this job where Palin first really demonstrated the toughness, political courage and maverick spirit that would years later so impress presidential candidate John McCain. She resigned in January 2004 as head of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission after complaining to the office of Governor Frank Murkowski and to state Attorney General Gregg Renkes about ethical violations by another commissioner, Randy Ruedrich, who was also Republican state chairman. State law barred Palin from speaking out publicly about ethical violations and corruption. However, she was vindicated later in 2004 when Ruedrich, who'd been reconfirmed as state chairman, agreed to pay a $12,000 fine for breaking state ethics laws. She became a hero in the eyes of the public and the press, and the bane of Republican leaders. In 2005, she continued to take on the Republican establishment by joining Eric Croft, a Democrat, in lodging an ethics complaint against Renkes, who was not only attorney general but also a long-time adviser and campaign manager for Murkowski. The governor reprimanded Renkes and said the case was closed. It wasn't. Renkes resigned a few weeks later, and Palin was again hailed as a hero. In 2006, Palin ran for governor and was elected in a landslide.

It's easy to see now why she is so much more QUALIFIED to be president than our community organ grinder in chief. She is far from an idiot.

I get some liberals ranting about the size of the cities she ran and the population of Alaska, naming some obscure cities as being more populous. Sure, the Terminator governs a huge state. Ditto Blumberg. But just how SUCCESSFUL have they been? She has been a success at everything she has led.

Oh, and now can be added this to her accomplishments ---- BEST SELLING AUTHOR.

+1 to both sets of opinions. I'd add that McCain felt threatened by Palin's popularity, and instead of using that popularity to garner votes the idiot pushed her out of the spotlight. McCain lost because of himself and his idiotic campaign staff.
