OK, so there are plenty more important things in the world, but this house bill is good in my books.

H.R.6209: Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act - U.S. Congress - OpenCongress

HR 6209, would require that commercials be aired at the same volume level as the programs they accompany.

It annoys me no end when its late at night and all of a sudden the TV starts blasting out how 'extenze' is going enhance me, or how 'magic jack' is $1.70 a month.

Years ago something like this came up, I don't recall the end result but evidently the ad people ignored it. Thank GOD for the mute button on TV remotes !!! Especially annoying is the lengthy multiple commercials at the most interesting scenes of a good TV movie, Just when the movie has you on the edge of your recliner....But better than the British crap where you have to pay a tax to watch TV.
