10/22 Question

So i bought a Ruger 10/22 awhile back. I recently put in a .920 Bull Barrel, Houge OM stock, and a Bushnell 3-9x40mm scope on it. Love it to death, shoots true, and cheap. Only thing is, one little bit of cosmetics is annoying me.

The Houge stock is a dark green and the Bull Barrel is blued, however, the Reciever and trigger guard/assm are silver (it was a black synthetic and silver in orginal form) Is there possibly someone who could lead me somewhere where i could buy the nessecary parts to black it out? I know i can replace the trigger guard black and leave the actual trigger silver, however the reciever area looks a little wierd being silver with green and black.

You might check with Brownells ([url]www.brownells.com[/URL]) and their line of Duracoat products. Pretty easy to apply and it gives a nice finish.

Duplicolor High Heat paint, good to 1200 degrees. I've used it many times with good results. Clean and degrease and go slowly. You can buy it at most auto parts stores. I have done three shotguns with it and am happy with the results. About 8 bucks a can.

i thought about high heat paint. I have steel wheels on my truck i've done several times with that stuff, wont affect the rifle at all? ( i know not to spray it on moving parts of course)

Strip the action and tape off the inside. A couple of very light coats will give you a nice finish. Duplicolor makes two kinds, get the one rated at 1200 degrees.

Spray paint is cheap and easy, but it is not durable.

Duracoating is more durable.

Rattlecan camo... After doing a few of my beaters in Pakistan and my franken-guns back here, I think it's greatest idea ever.

Change the color whenever you like, and if you want to go back to original, spray on some brake cleaner and wipe it off.

I wouldn't do it to high gloss and walnut, but I only own a few "nice" guns, the rest of 'em are tools...really expensive tools.

The stuff I'm talking about is actually quite durable. It is used on headers and manifolds. I don't think that .22 is going to see a lot of abuse. The first shotgun I did, 2 yrs ago, has seen a lot of use and is showing a little wear.
