Bought a Kahr 380 at the gun show over the weekend. My purchase was based on a friend's recomendation. Took it to the farm and fired a few rounds from it. 12 rounds and it didn't successfully eject a single round. Either didn't eject or ejected part way. Bought a different brand of ammo just in case and fired about 10 round. Only got 5 rounds to eject successfully. The slide is so tight, I struggle to load the first round or open and manually remove a round. Tried out a couple rounds from a friends gun (different brand) and the slide moved easily. I'm guessing something is bad wrong with this gun rather than an issue of break-in. Any thoughts before I send it in for warranty service?

    Gunz are icky.
Make sure it is cleaned thoroughly and lubed.
A new gun is going to require break in. Some guns need as many as 500rds for full break in.
The recoil spring will need to be fired a couple of hundred rounds at least.
    What ammo were you using?
You might try a box or three of Buffalo Bore +P ammo to see if ammo is the issue.
It sounds like the slide is stiff and the ammo isn't cycling the slide fully rearward.

    Pretty much nailed it here.

Clean and lube it well. Give it a few more rounds before you send it off.

I bought a CT380 Kahr several months ago. It is a little larger than the micro sized CW380 & P380. Cleaned & lubed it out of the box then racked the slide several hundred times - it was tight as a tick at first, then loosened a little. Lubed some more before shooting.

It ate up all the Remington FMJ as well as the Hornady Critical Defense without a problem. However it wouldn't fire any of the WWB - maybe it was a bad batch. Shot some more Remington & Hornady and it ran smooth as butter. About 200 rounds all told down the pipe.

Very nice little pocket gun - carry it in a Remora.

AB is right on. Clean and lube and work the slide a bunch. Should be fine, mine was and still is.

    Troll alert.

First post with no introduction and we are supposed to answer your question?

Was it a new gun or used?

What ammo did you run through it?

Why would one brand of ammo make the slide easier to manipulate than other brands?

It's a brand new gun out of the box. A friend took a look and said it was nice and clean and well-oiled. I'll take it out to the farm this weekend and run a few boxes of ammo through it to see if it improves.

    Well-oiled may be the problem.

    Clean it.

    Lightly oil it.

    Shoot it more.

    Don't skip the first two.

I've run 300 rounds throuhg it now. The FMJ doesn't seem to shoot worth a darn. Have to manually rack the slide nearly every round. Fired a 100 rounds of Sig Sauer 100 grain rounds that were a little better, but at this rated, I'd need a 1000 rounds for it to approach reliability. And now, it occasionally fires and ejects, but doesn't reload the next round. I'll get 2 more boxes of good ammo to fire before I complain to Kahr again, but I'm getting tempted to take a loss and see what the gun store will give me in a trade.

I bought a new Kahr CW40. I also had feed problems at first. I took emory cloth and polished the feed ramp and lightly in the chamber. After that I didn't have any more problems. I carry the Kahr because it is small, flat, and concealable. But I HATE that DAO trigger!

I have a Kahr PM9 that I have been putting through it's paces. The first 200 rounds were terrible.

The most recent 100 rounds have been trouble free. Several people warned me that it would not be reliable until I had 250 rounds through it.

On a positive note. I shoot it better than any other subcompact pistol I own. The DA trigger pull is long but it is smooth and consistent.

Ran 100 rounds of Winchester ammo through it over the weekend. I have now fired it 350 times. Of those 100 rounds, exactly one fire and reloaded without me manually racking it. Many times I racked it to clear the fired cartridge only to have to do it a 2nd time to reload. I have a blister from doing this. I have a 9mm Springfield that worked great right out of the box. Getting about ready to take this Kahr to the pawn shop and suck up my losses.

Back to the original question - have you thoroughly cleaned and degreased it, then LIGHTLY lubed it? Not just had a friend look at it, but actually clean/degrease it, then re-lube it very, very lightly?

Have you called Kahr to get service under warranty?

Sounds like something is wrong with the extractor, for sure...

+1, If it doesn't work after 350 rounds contact Kahr and have them fix it. No reason for you to take a loss on it.

Extractor needs to be fixed. Don't waste any more money firing any more ammo through it. Just send it in for a warranty repair. It should be a pretty straightforward problem to fix.

My P380 had only a couple rounds jamming in the first 200rds.
Other than that it has been flawless. Definitely a problem
    With the extractor or else

Sent it in and they replaced the extractor and extractor rear pin. Claimed it tested ok. Took it out to the farm, loaded, CAREFULLY followed their manual instructions on loading and racking and fired. Pulled the trigger again and....click. It ejected but didn't reload. Only fired 12 times because it failed to eject or reload 9 times. It is darned hard to rack the slide, too. I struggle to rack it and I'd say very few women would be able to. Called CS and they were asking what ammo I used. Well, I fired 6 brands and 450 rounds before sending it to them the first time. This last I tried was Winchester. Said I needed to fire several kinds, it could be the ammo. I really don't think I should go spending a bunch of $$$ trying to find an ammo that works. I think I have a lemon of a gun. They weren't helpful at all. I asked for a replacement and they don't replace guns. I may just be SOL. I'm going to send it back again (they didn't offer a return label) and see if they fix it. I may have just wasted my money.

I took it by a friend's house before sending it in the first time. I'm not real experienced with guns, but my friend owns several guns and has much more experience. He tried it and had the same problem. Also said it racked with way too much difficulty. I tried his concealed carry gun (can't remember the brand) and it handled like a dream.
