So after an uneventful day of concealed carry when you get home, what do you do with your piece?

Put it in the safe like a responsible citizen,
Keep it on to meet and greet the neighbors,
Put it under the pillow for the bump in the middle of night,
Watch TV in your underwear and keep the Hawg in the waist band of ya whitey-tighty’s,
    What do you do?

…and yes some of the examples are tongue-in-cheek but the social niceties we British are famous for, I find a holstered gun on the kitchen counter a little vulgar….will I get over this?

This post in on the lighter side, so spare me the lectures about unattended guns, etc please.

I put it on top of a tall cabinet where the kids can't reach it. They know better and are trained properly, but my kids could break my Glock. I have seen them in action. I believe they will all be demolition experts when they grow up.

Plus it helps keep guns spread all around my house just in case.

I have guns stored through out the house.
So it depends on which gun I carry that day.
There are a couple of reasons behind my storage.
#1 never know what room you may be in when a gun is needed.
#2 by not storing all my guns in one place, in the event of a break in they may only find one or two and not all of them.
Yes a safe would be nice but no room in this small house for a safe.

I put it on the counter or desk or coffee table depending on where the first place I sit down when I get home. Let me state for the record that this is because my house is a child free zone.... if I had children it would be different. I do disagree that "in the safe" is ever responsible unless you have one of those fast access safes that pops open by hitting the right key sequence as you never know when you will need your weapon even at home.. It is much more difficult for those of you with little ones though, and I understand that and sympathize... :)

Leaving guns 'hidden' in strategic places around the house is convenient in a very "Die Hard" sort of way, but not terribly safe with children (and many adults).

I carry nearly all the time, even at home. If my gun isn't on me, it's near me. When I go to bet, I have two Glocks and a flashlight tucked between my mattress. If I answer the door in sweats or something, I pick up a handgun and place it on the cabinet to the right of the door, or, if I'm suspicious, I simply hold it behind me. IF I open the door, it's very handy.

The point I always make to my students is THERE ARE NO SAFE PLACES. I'll ask, "How many of you intend to carry all the time?" No one raises their hand. "How many will carry most of the time?" I'll get about half the class to raise their hands. "How many will carry when you go some place you'll need a gun?" The rest, usually the majority, of the class raises their hands.

Suppose you're in the kitchen, cooking dinner for your family. You're elbow deep in raw hamburger, making meatloaf, when the front door crashes open and two armed invaders burst in your home. Where is your gun? Do you have to go through the bad guys to get to it? It is critical that you, and your family members, have, know and practice a PLAN for home intruders.

Edit: I didn't mention, but in the few times that I'm not carrying (and that's almost never), all guns are safely locked in a large gun safe.

Kids are grown and gone - so it goes on the counter. Already have several in my office, so don't need 'em there. An' there's one in each nightstand - so don't need 'em there. One in the headrest of my Lazy Boy recliner...don't need it there.

If/when the neighbors notice, about all they ask if if it's a new one.<G>

My fear is the nosy visitor finding one and hurting someone. Always secure the antifungal cream, battery operated 'devices' and handguns! :p

I figure I can fight off any bad guys with my bare hands, so I put it in my son's crib. That way the little guy has some means of defense, AND it's an easy place to remember.

Thought about that when the boys were younger - but they wuz always so hungry ah figgered they'd jest eat anyone what came in reach. Although, they DID like the Bowie knives they got fer the 3rd birthdays. Bein' safety conscious, ah made 'em wait until they wuz 7 afore they got their first smoke poles...

On my hip or on the coffee table pointing towards the 61" TV or on the night stand pointing away from the pillow.

We have no kids and our dog prefers using his prison shank of a bone.

If I'm in street clothes, it's on my hip. If I'm in my PJs, then I'm somewhere in my bedroom and it's on my nightstand loaded and ready to rock and roll.

Please note that I have no kids in the house.
