    Hi.
I am a life member of the NRA and was looking at some mail about upgrading my Life Membership to an Endowment Membership.

My question is. What is and Endowment Membership? I have looked on the NRA sight for an explanation of this but can not find one. I am fairly bad at finding things on web sights.

It is a good reason for you to donate another 500 bucks or so to the NRA. Plus if you go to the NRA convention you get a different color ribbon to hang off your badge.

BTW I am an endowment member and if I travel to Charlotte for the convention this year I will probably upgrade to Patron (I think that is next).

Go for it, DC...or any other gun-rights group. Some like one better'n another. I don't care WHICH one someone belongs to - but if they ain't a member of one or another, then they got NO do in the gun rights fight, and are lettin' the rest of us do their fightin' for 'em.
    Jest mah .02 worth.

Ok But what is it. What is the difference. I know a life member is a member for life. What is the endowment membership. What does it mean. Is it worth while? I get that part. And while I don't really have the money for it right now I might find it some place if I knew what the difference was.

When it comes right down to it, it's a "prestige" thing. You gave more $$$. Which is fine - beats 'em just sayin' "thanks!"

This is pretty much it. There are 3 "prestige" levels of life membership beyond regular life. You pretty much step up to them unless you want to write one big check and get to the top.

This is from the NRA's membership site....

    Contributory Life Memberships
(Offered to Fully Paid Life Members)

    Endowment Member $2,000
    Patron Member $3,500
    Benefactor Member $5,000

Endowment, Patron and Benefactor members are eligible to vote in NRA elections, receive special recognition at NRA events, and are sent credentials including a certificate suitable for framing, a lapel pin, a decal, a patch, and a new membership card so you can proudly display your membership status.

Members are entitled to a credit based on the current value of whatever level of life membership they now hold. [For example: If you are already an Endowment member (currently valued at $2,000) you need only pay the additional $1,500 to reach $3,500 and the Patron level]

    Hope this helps

There is nothing wrong with doing the EPL if you can't afford the full cost of life up front. That is how I paid for my life membership. It was 700 bucks when I got it and paid 25 bucks a quarter for 7 years. Now I could have paid it off considerably faster than that and I think made the last 2 years worth of payments at once, but it was a great way to start. What is funny is I hadn't even received my life credentials in the mail yet when I upgraded to Endowment at the NRA convention in Phoenix.

Don't let anyone ever tell you that a life member is doing more than a basic member most times they don't

I got to Benefactor member several years ago, not because of "prestige" or looking for recognition, but because I have always thought that those that can should fight as hard as possible. I was in a good place financially and did what I thought was my duty to support NRA as best I can.

AFAIK, that's the top tier of membership. It doesn't keep me from sending them a check when I can afford it.

    Crush, kill, mangle, maim, destroy.

Why did you log out, then back in, and continue to argue?
