Got a Para Ordnance GI Expert from Cabelas for $419 plus tax after using a $100 off coupon that expired today. I read several very favorable reviews about this 1911 and the price was definitely right. Slide to frame fit is excellent. Trigger is pretty crisp. It has the traditional looks to it except for the skeleton hammer and competition looking trigger. Will take it to the range this weekend. Will report results later.

Congrats. How'd you manage a $100 off coupon? Got any more coupons you don't need

Came in the mail to Cabelas Club Visa members. The savings was graduated to a maximum of $100 off if you spend over $500. The gun was priced at $519. So, I maxed out the discount savings.

It ate 150 rounds of CCI Blazer Brass this afternoon. Had 3 FTF on the last round of a magazine. I'm thinking that I may have loosened my grip by the last round of the magazine. This happened with the Para mags twice and a Cobra Mag once. Will keep a watch on it. Other than that, it is quite accurate on paper targets and handled rapid fire on steel plates.

Why can't i come across good deals on 1911's?

I really like the idea of the GI Expert
