BTW, what ever became of David Crockett?????
The U.S.A. IS 1 NATION UNDER GOD! WHAT GOD HAS BROUGHT TOGETHER, LET NO MAN TRY AND UNDO. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS SUBJECT IS STILL, TO THIS DAY, BROUGHT UP IN THIS COUNTRY! I UNDERSTAND THAT SOME MAY FEEL DISGUST ETC..... AT HOW THE GOVT IS DOING THINGS, BUT BELIEVE ME, STAYING TOGETHER ONLY MAKES US STRONGER, WITH THE BELIEF THAT "WE TRY AND BE ON GOD'S SIDE, AND NOT ALWAYS BELIEVE THAT GOD SHOULD BE ON 'OUR' SIDE". THIS IS MY BELIEF AND I BELIEVE IT WAS THE FOUNDING FATHERS' BELIEF.

Following the Civil War ... no state has the right to secede, including Texas, unless you seem to forget the entire forced reunion of the states under federal observation.
The only way Texas is going to secede is through force of arms. It can not and will not do it diplomatically. There is far too much apathy amongst Texas citizens to win a revolution. Sabre rattling on the internet and giving up everything for a free Texas are two vastly differing situations.
The POTUS does not have the power to sign away our "soverinty" [sic] to NATO. The only group that can ratify a treaty is the Senate, and he does not control the Senate.
The people need to hold Washington responsible, but they won't, and we will reap that reward.

If Texas leaves the Union it would be run by Mexican Drug Cartels in a matter of months. Then the US would have to bail it out and put tons of lives at risk. It shouldn't happen and won't happen.
Perhaps all 50 states need to secede and start afresh. Great news! I know of a good constitution they could use. It was priceless at one time and bought and paid for in rivers of blood, but we should be able to get it for free because it hasn't been used in decades and the current government has absolutely no use for it.

Actually the civil war did not prove that states could not secede it only proved that they can be forced to stay at the power or a bayonet yielding mislead president. The 10th amendement protects the states right to sucede. No where in the US constituition does it say that the states cant leave the union.

It only proved that, when allowed to act outside his lawfully limited authority, a U.S. president is capable of unleashing horrendous violence against the lives, liberty, and property of those whom he pretends to serve. The Confederate States (including Texas) withdrew from the Union lawfully, civilly, and peacefully, after enduring several decades of excessive and inequitable federal tariffs (taxes) heavily prejudiced against Southern commerce.[4] Refusing to recognize the Confederate secession, Lincoln called it a "rebellion" and a "threat" to "the government" (without ever explaining exactly how "the government" was "threatened" by a lawful, civil, and peaceful secession) and acted outside the lawfully defined scope of either the office of president or the U.S. government in general, to coerce the South back into subjugation to Northern control.[5]
The South's rejoining the Union at the point of a bayonet in the late 1860s didn't prove secession is "not an option" or unlawful. It only affirmed that violent coercion can be used—even by governments (if unrestrained)—to rob men of their very lives, liberty, and property.[6]
It bears repeating that the united States are "united" explicitly on the principle that "governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed" and "whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [i.e., protecting life, liberty, and property], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government" and "when a long train of abuses and usurpations...evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."
Under the 14th amendment secession would be "abridgment of citizens privileges and rights to due process and equal protection of the law"... I think that is a pretty liberal interpretation of the words, but that is the interpretation that constitutional scholars and most likely the 9 Supremes would use to invalidate such a secession. The only way around it would be a unanimous vote by 100% of Texans.
Your last paragraph is the most powerful thing you have said though, because it outlines the real solution, revolution.... whether it be a political revolution like Ronald Reagan lead and the Bush's and Liberals have fought so hard to beat down since or a revolution through force of arms....
