Wouldn't be appropriate to do it in public face to face, but perfectly cool to do it anonymously on a public forum. Ok, got it. I never said anyone should automatically go along with anything. I just said I'd be honored to meet him. Not because of his stance on UBCs or who he supports for President or any other political opinion, but because the guy is a hero in my opinion. And yes, I know some of the details in the movie/book were greatly fictionalized. Apparently so was Kyle's book and movie. Hollywood embellishments don't change how I feel about either man.

Yes stating my opinion on and online forum is ok and going to a public event to trash talk him isn't ok to me. How is that even in doubt? That you have a man crush should mean squat but you seem to be taking it personal that others don't. And no you didn't just say you would be honored to meet him. You said people were trash talking him and wouldn't have the balls to say it to his face. That smack talk was what I responded too. It doesn't bother me a bit that you crush on him but there is no need to denigrate those that don't. And what the heck got yourt panties in a bunch anyway? The weakest smack talk ever on this site? Is saying "Meh, not going to bother" really that bad? Or was it when questioned people actually had the nerve to explain why they felt that way?
I read that statement as it's easy to talk about someone and their positions online. Maybe you act more gangsta in the words you type vs. sitting face to face with an American hero. In other words, I bet you wouldn't say it to his face.

Besides what is he going to do shoot me? I don't get knocked kneed over famous people.

It would depend on the venue. If he were speaking at a wounded vet event, or doing a book signing I think it would be inappropriate to get in his face about his position on UBC. If he were speaking at the NRA convention about doing all you can to protect gun rights, it would be wholly appropriate, as would it be if he were running for office.

Of course. If he was doing a Q&A it would absolutely appropriate but tracking him down just to tell him off? That would be wrong regardless of who he is.

If you're going to misrepresent what I said then there's no point in responding. I never insulted you, please return the courtesy or don't participate in the discussion.

I just want to say I wasn't looking for a fight. It doesn't bother me at all that you are inspired, or whatever, By Luttrell. I only responded when you called people out for what you believe would be their unwillingness to say what they thought to his face. And I didn't argumentative about that just said that I thought it would be inappropriate to show up just to trash him. You then called that into question with "Wouldn't be appropriate to do it in public face to face, but perfectly cool to do it anonymously on a public forum. Ok, got it."
If I got something wrong then fine but I certainly wasn't trying to be insulting or misrepresent anything. I don't even know what was miss represented.

Read the thread again, you'll see I was answering another member's question asking what someone else posted. I didn't say that was my viewpoint. I even made it clear I don't think anyone should confront this guy publicly etc. I do find your (and other posts in this thread) point of view about trashing a decorated veteran who was injured in combat interesting. Just my point of view.

Frankly, you seem overly sensitive in numerous threads, not just this one.

I tell you I have seemed to getting cross ways with a lot of people. I'm not sure why because objectively nothing I have said is a big deal or outside the rules but it seems to get people worked up. Wasn't trying to honestly.

You came on a bit strong saying that people wouldn't say that to Lutrell's face. You then said something that sure looked like it questioned be about why I wouldn't say something to Lutrells face. "Wouldn't be appropriate to do it in public face to face, but perfectly cool to do it anonymously on a public forum. Ok, got it." I think you can see how I thought that was meant as a negative judgment on my statement. So if you meant something else my apologies but that was what I was referring to and wasn't trying to misrepresent anything. If my paraphrasing was a bit crude or just more than you meant then again my bad. But I was responding not trying to create something out of nothing.

I should of said it seemed to me you were coming on a bit strong. I sometimes forget how hard it can be to convey meaning and intent with just typing.
