last year when I went, if you cc, you had a separate line (which was way shorter btw) and you went straight to the cop in his high chair and showed him your license.

Same, cc-ed last year at the state fair. Was pretty awesome skipping the metal detector line and just having to show the cop your CCL. Not the best surrounding neighborhood where you have to park, glad Texas isn't backwards like those Lib-tard states that want you to be defenseless.

Just got back from fair. There wasn't a separate line that I saw or the officer was in break so walked up to metal detector lady and said LTC, where do I go and she just said OK, waived me by and I proceeded to walk on in... Yep gun free zones work that well! Lol.

And why can't you carry a knife but can carry a gun? Silly!

In related news, the EAST Texas State Fair in Tyler has a 30.07 sign up, but concealed seems to be fine.

Seems we need to get Mr. Abbot to say no gun ban at any event on public property.

The festival is produced by Austin-based company C3 Presents, thus a private entity, and if private entities hold events on city or state properties, they are free to set their own rules. Just like there's no carrying of loaded weapons, concealed or otherwise, at gun shows held in public venues.

I'm aware, hence why we're need to get that's changed. It was Greg Abbot that ruled that.

They sell knives at the fair and don't sell guns. They want your money for a new knife of dubious quality.
Really? I don't even know they sold them there. Lol. Took a tactic from the movie industry! No outside knives! Ha.

    BigBoss0311,

At nearly 70YY I see lots of police officer who look like "wet behind the ears kids" to me BUT I never thought that they would be so young/immature as to need a "highchair".
    (CHUCKLE)

Question: Are there any buildings at The State Fair that do NOT allow CC??
(I haven't been to Fair Park in at least a decade.)

Addenda: I never before wanted to hug a TX State Trooper until last Saturday afternoon, when I was "pulled over" by a DPS unit for a non-functioning brake-light.
(The DPS trooper was an GOOD-LOOKING Redhead, who looked at my DL/LTC & "sent me on my way".)
Imo, there are just 2 kinds of redheads: "Hard on the eyes" & STUNNINGLY beautiful.

    yours, satx

Except that in the texas penal code, license holders are exempt from 30.06 and 30.07 signage on land that is owned or leased by a political subdivision.

You could conceal carry at ACL right past a 30.06 sign and not be breaking any laws. And our AG has said that a private entity on public property could post the signage, but a license holder would not be guilty of anything.

If you decided to open carry past the 30.07 there, you still would not be breaking any laws, but you might be asked to leave or get a ticket, albeit the charges would be dropped (if the DA could read English) or you would take it to court and win.

I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice, but I am capable of reading.

    A.Texas.Yankee,

Actually, we need to get the Texas AG to notice all cities & similar entities (like ISDs, park "authorities" & "special districts") that they may NOT forbid LTC persons carrying on their premises.

That, too. We really just need gun free anything except private entities to go away.

I may have heard rumors of people who use that same legal justification to carry right past the 30.06 and .07 signs at their apartment complex ;)
