550 OTD for that GI is excellent.

For some reason they went up in price and were barely being had for $599 on the shelf. That 550 is a lot closer to what they should be, 469-499 on the shelf.

Anyhow, great 1911 you have. It'll shoot the lights out as it is. Or you can upgrade it as you see fit.

Monica. You need to sell this feller a holster for that weapon.

Got one of these myself and it's a great shooter. I'm not sure what the trigger pull is but feels like almost 4 lbs. Next one I want is either the Colt New Agent or Defender..... then a Commander..... Or maybe the Commander first and then the little ones.

Sold a V10 Springfield... I didn't care for the ported muzzle... I liked how it softened the recoil but it seemed to affect the accuracy... I picked up a Colt MKIV 3.5 incher with shortened trigger and ampi safety...

Nifty! Does it have a 7 shot mag or 6?

Like many others have said before, 1911 ownership is addicting. They are classic guns that just work all the time. Plus with all the aftermarket support you can take one in almost any direction you like. Enjoy it and let us know how you like it the more you shoot it.

I like it! SA is a great first .45. You did well.
Now comes the addiction. You may as well start reading up on reloading, too..... that's just part of it. No matter what caliber.

Enjoy your new pistol. Keep her nice and cleaned/oiled and she'll serve you well, for a very long time, right out of the box. Gibbs is a good rust protection/lubricant, for everywhere on moving parts in 1911s. Use sparingly on firing pin. Happy and safe shooting... ummmmm you probably ought to start saving your brass, too.... yep it's inevitable.

Nice. I look at the GI models I and think I would like to get one. But, I'm afraid I would want to add extended this and commander that. Then trigger job with a 3 hole trigger and night sights. So I just leave it alone.

But for 1st 1911 .45 you did good. Springfied has awesome customer service so did a fine job.

SA is a good gun, and they have a great warranty. Start it out on round nose ammo, a new tight gun may have some hiccups as it breaks in. You will have the gun for a long time, good steel.

Other than "brand preference" why would you do that. Your gun is obviously a great shooter. I have a buddy that carries an RIA as a Drug Enforcement LEO. Since he is part time, he is allowed to carry his choice of guns. His RIA was purchased 3 years ago and has several thousand rounds through it, with no problems. He has done absolutely nothing to his and trust's his life to it. Could he have another gun...absolutely. He was steered to the RIA by another LEO who carries the 3 1/2" or 4"...I forget which one he said that his buddy carries. He formerly carried a Beretta 92 but wanted a larger caliber.
