Why do these "special" snowflakes figure they should get away with doing stupid stuff that would land ordinary, real folks in jail? If A gun owner went out and started shooting stupid snowflakes, does anyone believe they would be allowed to plead..."I was improving the species"?

They would have sreamed bloody murder if someone did that to Obama. Or if a student did that they would want to expell them..

Yup, she needs to go. Period.

I don't think we need to waste resources on secret service investigating but I would like to see some sort of meaningful punishment. Administrative leave without pay? Firing? Sure, I'd love that.

My college kid came home furious as two guest "Women's March" participants were invited by the teacher to guest speak at his Texas Government class, and he was subjected to them basically bashing the POTUS for 40 minutes of mandatory class time. He's a 17 year old kid trying to get college credit; he doesn't feel comfortable making a stink that might affect his college grade. He plans to rip it up on the end course evaluation.

The "very progressive" staff at the college writing tutoring center also engages him in political arguments as he is trying to get writing help. My son is very strong opinioned, yet VERY respectful and demure. Low key. Seems they are taking the chance to try to chip away at his conservative views. He knows this is what is happening (and usually just drops his participation in discussions as they are getting heated to refocus on why he is there) however otherwise the writing tutoring is VERY much needed and helpful. The writing center is there to help my son express his OWN views, not to influence political views or to help the staff feel better by winning arguments.

The ugly fact is that school teachers are indoctrinated as Leftists/Socialists in College right here in Texas, so they can indoctrinate their pupils every day.

The Left has taken hold of public education.

    Be well.

There is a good amount of truth to this. However, teachers, professors and administrators are not the biggest problem. It's the PARENTS at home who abdicate all control over their kid to a stranger. I grow up in Romania. Socialist shithole Romania. Want to talk about indoctrination. That was REAL indoctrination. Yet me and most of my classmates were and still (the ones I've talked to since leaving) are very conservative. That is 100% due to our parents taking an active role in our lives and making sure the only things that sank in from school were the 3R's.

    Wow.
    I'm with ya.
yep, homeschooling mama here. And you want to know what? We didn't even do that great a job with the schooling part yet my kid can hop straight on into community college at age 15 (and three quarters) without ever having set foot in a classroom before and do just fine along with the adults. (He's now a third of the way through with his associates degree at age 17). Worth it to me to skip all the bull crap.

Very good for him. My oldest went to a charter school in town part time for six months. Did 2 years of high school in that time and graduated right after turning 17.

Although I would admit that the majority of teachers are liberal, I don't really like to be lumped in with the majority. Most of my colleagues I have respect for, but then I don't ask for their political opinions. What I will say is that politics, other than in a government type of class where it should be a non biased or at least a balanced setting, shouldn't be discussed in classes at all. If asked by my students if I voted, I tell them "Yes I voted" and that's it. I don't try to push my beliefs on anyone and tell people thankfully not to push theirs on me.

    Helotes!
Not gonna lump all teachers into the "liberal" bin as I know a lot who are conservative, and just as we gun owners don't like to be categorized neither should they.

This needs to be about the actions of this one teacher and her alone. She should be dismissed as nothing she did had to do with "art" (the subject she teaches), and even if she did it as a joke (which I highly doubt), it's unprofessional and justification for dismissal.

Much like FedEx stood behind their driver that prevented the hippies from burning an American flag, DISD needs to step up and do the right thing as well. She has exhibited very poor judgment and should not be involved in the education of our youth. It shouldn't take much to "investigate" this incident as the video is clear proof of what she did. There is no excusing it, and no excuse should be accepted.

Although I'm not beyond disciplinary action in this case, I think firing is a bit far for what really is an innocuous prank. I believe that she should also be told that any actions like that in the future would be terms for removal.
