    Hey All,

I've just recently moved here to the Dallas Fort Worth area about 3 weeks ago from Los Angeles California. Just wanted to introduce myself and get myself accustomed to all the freedom's Texas has to offer. Got my dream job here and going through the process of becoming a LEO.

So far, I love this place and I hope to be here for a long long time. Really can't believe how nice people are here compared to California.

OK...Well we're not all nice, go back to California, ya fruitcake!!!!

JK...welcome to Texas, you'll love the people, but hate the weather.

As you may know...we are gonna have about 86° for a high today and had 35°. for a low like just yesterday.

You got here too late for the 16 and 17° temps we had a few weeks back.

Whereabouts are you in the area?

    shellslinger,

    Why did you leave California?

    Let me guess.

Disgusted with California's leftist approach to everything because you're a Conservative?

    Seeking work?

I was raised in it, boots and jeans 365. Add a pearl snap denim shirt in the summer and it ain't bad, but those shirts never fit me right so I have a Mexicans arms and neck. Or did, now I stay in the truck.

Welcome to the refugee camp. Been here just over a year myself. You can read my intro back about page 7. Want a real deep breath of freedom? Wait 'til your first gun show. Hoooah. Good luck on your LEO effort. One of my kids is an officer with Arlington PD.

Hit the nail on the head! I couldn't stand living there anymore. I essentially packed up my stuff and got out of dodge real quick. Although, when I first moved here I didn't have any friends or anyone I knew besides the people who hired me. So far I've been meeting a lot of great folks. Everyday when I'm out in my training phase, I notice everyone here always waves that the other officers and giving them appreciation. You don't see that in California.

I have been here near 2 1/2 years and came from Nor Cal. Everywhere changes and no place is like where you grew up but the place I grew up in the 60's was pretty nice. Hollywood and SF were weird and everyone tolerated, even enjoyed the entertainment the weirdo's provided but in the 90's it really spun out of control. When Jerry Brown, California's favorite political joke got back into office we knew the tipping point had passed and we came to grips that it was permanent.

The biggest thing outsiders find coming here is much friendlier people and a real pride in the local history. I tell people in California if you see a state flag you must be parked in front of a state government building because that is the only place they fly. No one in California knows squat about it or how it came to be. At this point most think the white robber barons stole it from Mexico and we should really give it back but the next best thing is to make it a haven for anyone who wants to sneak across and the rich Americans can support them all. Build it and they will come. And they did. Not the hard working ones wanting a better life mind you but people who want a free ride.

Well, welcome to Texas but love it for what it is.
