Have not heard any information concerning the Lubbock store. Wouldn't be a big surprise or, frankly a great loss, if it were to close. Overpriced, marginal service at best. More times than not Employee's cars out number customer vehicles.

Honestly I could care less about gander. Way over priced stuff. It's nice they price match but they are picky. Academy will price match and beat it by 5 percent. But like I hope most of us I would never buy a gun there. I'd rather support local stores!

The problem with Gander is that they have Cabelas prices with none of the benefits.

My store is closing. The on-going joke around here is if the employees never parked out front, there wouldn't be any cars in the main parking lot.

I've been in the Killeen store a to get ammo a few times. I've never seen that store with anyone in there. When I drive home, I take 190 and even then, never anyone there. I'm not sure why they bothered to put that store there, its in a bad spot. I just go to Waco and use the Cabella's outpost if I need anything these days.

From what I have heard, sometime in May. Not sure when the sales will start. Heard that some already have in the Killeen store.

Try need to close the one at Lake Worth and Arlington! They are closing the one in Waco and that's the one I've seen to be the busiest. Place is crap anyway!

The one in Amarillo has had a clearance sale for around a month now. They have a bad location here. It's out west of town by nothing 2 miles out. Stupid place

Somewhat sad actually, I used to buy quite a bit when they were a mail order operation. I actually thought they were O.o.B. till I started hearing of their retail store(s).
I was thrilled to learn they were coming to the South Plains, until I walked in the door, shopped/compared prices, walked out the door.
Now I don't darken the door unless I need something now. 80% of the time they don't have it anyway.

The one on 290 is opposite Academy. Both are impacted by the construction on 290. Gander is empty, Academy has lots of vehicles. As noted its ashame because it was a neat place but they literally priced themselves out of the market.

Hmm, so when will it be closing?

Don't know any particulars...not sure if they will bring in the "professional" liquidators to reduce inventory or just pack up the place. Wouldn't surprise me if UnderArmor and 5.11 came in and took their stuff back...same with Yeti and most of the firearms folks(although that might be a administrative nightmare).

I could help them clear out some Columbia XL and XXL goodies!

Maybe they're busy jacking up prices before they start their % off sales. lol

I've walked in that Round Rock store twice - saw a total of maybe 6 or 7 other lookers each time. Ridiculous prices on guns - never bought anything.

The one in Waco was an idiotic one to open considering the Cabelas outpost just up the road. Between Cabelas and Academy it didn't have a chance.

Not sure about others within TGT range; but this is the one I drive by from time to time...

You're not missing much. I've poked around a few times seeing if they had a decent sale on range ammo and it always empty. They seemed to be seriously understaffed every time I've been there.

Most of the time its easier to sell of the store's inventory than filter it back into the supply chain to another store, especially for a company that's going bankrupt. UA, 511, yeti merchandise is already purchased from the supplier so you could probably get at cost at the end if the stuff lasts. Not sure about firearms.

The one in spring had a nice well lit parking lot. Used it for trading now and then.
They did usually have any caliber you wanted to buy, and for awhile that was a nice thing.
