Truck bed tiedown points

In the inside rear corners of my truck bed (F250), below the rails but off the deck, are existing holes where I'd like to use some sort of eyebolts as attachment points for securing loads. It's a PITA to get a bungee or strap hook in them, especially if I'm tying into the corner something like a propane tank. I'd like to utilize these holes instead of drilling for cleats, but I'm not sure if there's a product available that would slip into the hole and have some means of staying put (i.e., not falling into the hole, or out of the hole). Anybody got a solution?

The problem will be getting the inside washer and nut on.

Right, no way to get the inside nut and washers on (and the washer has to be larger than the hole, so no way to even get it inside).

Looking around at the big box stores, I couldn't find any toggle bolts large/strong enough for my liking. Might should look online.

What year truck? 99 and up should have tie down points down close to the bed on all 4 corners. Keep in mind that that hole higher up is only in some relatively thin sheet metal so you'll be limited on what you can secure there. Something with bungee is ok, but start putting ratchet straps on there and cranking it down will result in problems.

A toggle bolt is what you'll likely need, and some eye bolts. Take the toggle wings off the bolt and buy an eye bolt with the same size and use the combination for what you need.

Another option would be to buy some smaller eye bolts and drill them through the inside face of the bed rail. There's a double thickness of metal there with pinch welds so it's stronger. You can use 1/4" or 5/16" eye bolts there and space them out along the rails for tie down points. Just be sure to check where the plastic bed rail caps (99 and up) snap into the bed since those plastic tabs might interfere with getting a nut on the bolt if you drill in the wrong spot.

Chris, it's a 2012, and it does have tiedown cleats in all four corners (and I do use them). I use the holes only for light duty tying up against the tailgate, not cranking down hard with ratchet straps. Thanks for the advice...if the anchors I linked don't work out, I'll look into the eye bolts/toggle nuts (both are similar in theory and application).

Those are available at Tractor Supply as well as bolts and other hardware. They have other options on the shelves too.

Might be worth a walk down the isles anyways.

Those look like they are made for the top of the bed rail.

They might work if you do some modifications.

I don't like them for a side mount as they will always be sticking out.

But so would any of the eyebolt ideas previously discussed...and that's ok with me. They're in the corners of the bed, not likely to get in the way of anything.

Yeah, I think that's your only option if you can't get to the backside and you're not willing to do any welding or drilling. Please note that there's no suggested max load or shear strength listed. Probably can't take much...
