I'd suspect someone who has run and owned forums would have thicker skin...society is lacking in thick skin.

It wasnt about being intelligent.. compassion is more of what I meant

Sorry to hear of your home being burglarized. It makes things personal. Wish you well in getting your firearm/belongings back. It sucks.

Robbery is against a person......not PC, but correct....

    Totally understandable....

Shocked and more so angry for quite awhile after it happened to us......

Glad you have the serial #.....it greatly improves the odds of it being returned someday....

    Yep, no compassion at all...........lol...:)

This would have been a better response from txinvestigator... Sorry that this has happened and hope things work out... just a FYI. your post should have been as a burglary instead of a robbery as there is a difference between the 2... But since his reply was lacking, I went the way I went... I could have said worse things but I have ran and owned a few forums and know the rules...

and thanks I just hope know one gets hurt or worse even though I am not liable...

I don't know the guy personally, but I can tell you from what I've seen, that's not his style. And, trying to post what you think he should have posted will get you nowhere. Just calling it like it is, man... remove your ego from this thread, and you'll appreciate txinvestigator's comments more. LoL...

Victim: This guy stuck a gun in my face and took my gun! Help Fire! Rape!!! I've been Burgled!
Cop: Were you here when this happened? Yes I was. Then you were robbed!
Victim: Who the heck cares what you call it my gun is gone.
Cop: Well I just spoke with 2 guys down the street and they saw a guy run by going toward Mexico.
Victim: That was him!! Did they catch him, can I have my gun back?
Cop: No, they heard you saying you were burgled, and they figured the bad guy was long gone. You see sir, words have meaning that sometimes are hard for others to understand.

Nobody was not feeling sorry for you. Everybody hates to be ripped off. The written word does not convey emotion as well as the spoken with feeling word. Robbed, puts you in danger. Burgled puts your stuff in danger. We all want to understand that you were and are safe in your person. I suffered a burglary of a motor vehicle and lost a really nice J frame. I was a Cop and knew better and had to endure the other Cops that came to "investigate." I took my medicine which lasted for years. That gun is still missing today,(over 20 years) and it still bothers me.
Hang in there. My J frame was bought with another of the same model by a close friend. He retired and sold it to another friend. That guy needed money and called me because everyone knew I lost mine. So today locked up in my safe is the next best thing to my gun.
I'm sorry you felt we didn't care. Fact is we just wanted to understand.

I hope they find the thief and your gun

I still mourn for my Glock 26 in FDE that was purloined from me and that was over 6 years ago

I understand there is a difference but it seems Society is lacking...

I doubt that there's anyone on here that doesn't sympathize with your plight, but there is a major difference between the execution of a burglary and a robbery; most notably the fact that the latter consists of an "intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causes bodily injury to another or intentionally or knowingly threatens or places another in fear of imminent bodily injury or death per the Texas Penal Code §29.01.

The only element of society that is lacking is the part that stole your property. I can understand your being upset, but it's mischanneled against those on this forum.

Nobody is arguing against that fact. Having the very first reply in a "my gun got stolen" thread being solely a correction on the victim's terminology is a bit of a dick move that shows a lack of any kind of sympathy. There is a time and a place for everything.

Well, when you open a thread expecting to react to someone's life being in danger and find it's not the case, it can cause the reaction to the actual events to become a bit numb.

    Daughter: "Dad, I'm pregnant"

Dad: "Oh my god, how did this happen?!"

Daughter: "Just kidding, I failed my history test"

    Dad: "Oh, thank god"

So just because this thread is not exciting enough for you, people should be a dick to the OP?

4 pages of discussion, 32 posts, only 6 people actually responded to the OP in a sympathetic way, and out of those 6 people, 3 of them still bitched about the terminology.

    Common decency is dead.

Show us us on the doll where the bad TXI touched you.

The correction was needed. There is a huge difference in the types of crimes.

Just glad that TXI got here first with it.

    OP,

Have you reviewed who has been in your home( your guests, and your roommates) that set off your spidey sense?

The correction really wasn't needed (especially in the way it was given) because it's not as if anyone on this forum is going to have shit to do with the investigation. The OP mentioned that his gun was stolen, and gave a description of in just in case anyone happened to come across it. The matter in which it was stolen is completely irrelevant to all the armchair detectives (1 exception to that title) here. If you see it, let the OP and the police know. Until then, please fill free to pull out whatever bug crawled up ya'lls asses. Thank you. :)

    Maverick out-
