I commend the Sheriff for his realistic assessment of the terrorist and violent crime situation. I was most impressed with the "hash" marks on his sleeve. The man has been around!

I can't speak for all of Texas, but any SHTF that starts in east Houston, Texas is going to be dealt with! These people keep a low profile and they don't do much yapping, but they are ready for anything!

This still applies today, no more--Run, Hide, Fight-----become pro-active
I just got back from a DHS AS workshop. It was not how to respond tactics wise but rather setting up a response and policy for your business. Someone asked about red flag laws and they stated they did not know anything about it?? They spoke a lot about "pathway to violence" and "see something, say something" and briefly touched on run hide fight. They said nothing about gun free victim zones or a general armed response. Our govt. At work.....

    IT4me,

In my case, the 22 minutes that I waited for help the night that 4 drugged-up thugs decided to burn down our farmhouse, with me in it, seemed like at least 22 YEARS. = I'm not ashamed to admit that I was TERRIFIED.

Had I not been lucky enough that late night to have my kid sister's German Shepard & my old DB bird-gun with me, I would I'm VERY SURE would not be writing these words.

Fwiw, I've not spent another night since W/O a loaded shotgun nearby.

    yours, satx

Don't need seconds if you are armed to defend yourself. When somebody gives me some pushback and say the police will be there to save you I remind them that most of the time they arrive after you are dead and they then put you in a body bag. I remind them that if they are armed and trained that the police can close the case because the perp is in the body bag.

    gshayd,

When I actually lived on the family farm & when I shared a house on North Mountain in WV, we KNEW that a call for help from the County would arrive too late to help you, in most cases. - Thus in WV our neighbors on our road united to defend each other & when a criminal tried to break into "Miss Emma's place" he was confronted with over a dozen armed men & several armed women too.
(When the BCSD units finally arrived about 45 minutes after she called 911, I believe that the creep was RELIEVED to be arrested. = He told a deputy that, "They was gonna kill me.")
