    I find this disturbing.

The president shrinks again from deporting Dreamers.
By Francis Wilkinson, June 19, 2017, 9:51 AM CDT

Yet Trump has renewed Dreamer work permits and even issued some new ones. One day after the DHS post, DHS issued a written statement: “The future of the DACA program continues to be under review with the administration,” it said. “The president has remarked on the need to handle the issue with compassion and with heart."

Compassion and heart have not been lodestars of Trump administration policies. Nor are they high priorities for his base voters. As David Frum wrote at the Atlantic: "Exactly why Trump betrayed his most ardent supporters will be a study for reporters and psychologists. Was it the influence of his daughter and son-in-law? The advice of his pollsters and political strategists?"

My intent was to discuss Trump's policy on this, not to discuss Bloomberg.

So why is Trump giving a pass to the illegal dreamers, which he said he wouldn't do.

Politics= you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. Like I said, I don't know all the particulars, but I'm sure it's politics.

That says he renewed work permits...a worker with a permit isn't illegal.

I don't read the article, but it sounds a little misleading.

Now what president wholly stood behind his campaign promises? Not many I'm sure. I liked Trump partially on the fact he wasn't a politician, but politics is a decease, once infected there is no cure.

Trump is a politician...all politicians are liars...simple as that. He reeks of insincerety, and says what he thinks will serve his purpose. We can't KNOW why he does this or that-there're no honest answers being given.

Regardless of his promises, he is not enforcing the existing immigration laws as they are written. Seems the only time laws in this country ARE enforced just as they're written is when the enforcing is done against working white people. If you are anything else, all you have to do is protest, whine, or file a suit, and the government runs scared and starts making exceptions.

Granted, some laws need changing badly...but why bother changing them if they're not going to be uniformly and fairly enforced anyways. Trump was the best of two bad choices...he still is just that.

I don't recall Trump campaigning that he was going to deport legal workers. Guess I missed that.

I also don't recall voting for Trump because he was going to have every bad policy, law, and Executive Action straightened out in his first six months of office.

I sure in the hell don't get my anti-Trump news from Bloomberg.

What normally, according to law, happens when an immigrant work permit expires? They leave. If they were here illegally when they got the permit-immediately. DACA's not about those who were here legally working within the law in the first place.

Here's more to what's actually happening.

Maybe he needs time to rescind obummer's DACA, but he doesn't have to renew the work permit that was given to a person illegally here to begin with. They need to quit the mollycoddling and ENFORCE the law.

You should probably read the article.

"Yet supporters of immigration restrictions couldn't help noticing that, once again, the Trump administration had failed to strip almost 800,000 Dreamers of the legal protection they had won under President Barack Obama's 2012 executive action."

"He's not actually willing to ease the stress on Dreamers by declaring them truly secure. But Trump so far has also been unwilling to rescind their work permits and hopes for staying in the U.S."

Generally agree with your post and that is what it about, but couldn't read the WaPo article due to my ad blocker.

Regarding DACA: "On June 15, 2012, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) was born, temporarily deferring deportations and providing renewable two-year work permits for eligible undocumented youth. "

    From WIKI on DACA:

"Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an American immigration policy founded by the Obama administration in June 2012. DACA allows certain illegal aliens who entered the country as minors, to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit."

DACA, as I said, took people who were here ILLEGALLY to begin with, and issued them work permits. It has nothing to do with people who are a part of the legal immigration procedure. It's a loophole created to "help" illegals get away with circumventing the system expressed in law. DACA is what "made" them eligible...not that they were legally here to begin with. He could use his power to refuse to renew DACA permits. He hasn't.

We, the people, are once again ignored, while the illegals are accommodated. I love it when a Hispanic gets on the news camera and says "Let them come here legally and work through the system like I had to do...they're no better than me." (Doesn't get much play, though.)

    Meh.

Political capital is a limited resource. No sense wasting it to deport a relatively low number of people when twice as many will flood in the next month.

    From the above link:

According to DHS status indicators, over 222,000 criminal aliens have been booked into local Texas jails between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2017. During their criminal careers, these criminal aliens were charged with more than 593,000 criminal offenses. Those arrests include 1,211 homicide charges; 70,500 assault charges; 17,132 burglary charges; 70,875 drug charges; 716 kidnapping charges; 41,464 theft charges; 46,028 obstructing police charges; 3,911 robbery charges; 6,361 sexual assault charges; and 8,906 weapons charges. Of the total criminal aliens arrested in that timeframe, over 148,000 or 66% were identified by DHS status as being in the US illegally at the time of their last arrest.

According to DPS criminal history records, those criminal charges have thus far resulted in over 266,000 convictions including 496 homicide convictions; 26,565 assault convictions; 8,411 burglary convictions; 34,929 drug convictions; 246 kidnapping convictions; 18,851 theft convictions; 22,644 obstructing police convictions; 2,011 robbery convictions; 2,906 sexual assault convictions; and 3,707 weapons convictions. Of the convictions associated with criminal alien arrests, over 177,000 or 66% are associated with aliens who were identified by DHS status as being in the US illegally at the time of their last arrest.

That list is pretty much irrelevant to those who received renewals, they are not considered illegal and would by be part of any of those statistics.

The left is getting smart. They can't beat Trump by saying he is a far right nazi fascist dictator, so they will beat him by convincing those on the right he is too far left.
