I looked through the sticky with the DFW ranges but didn't find much info on ranges that will allow you to shoot 4 position [standing, sitting, kneeling, & prone]. I do most of my shooting using a loop sling @ 25yds w/22LR and out to 500yds with 5.56. I am seeing the long range is hard to find and may have to drive a ways but rimfire is a great practice tool and would love to find something close to Plano indoor or outdoor where I can take my daughter [5yrs old] and teach her the fundamentals. Thanks guys!

Shoot Smart in Keller should allow this in the private lanes. Not real close to Plano and range is only a 15 yard range, but they do make an effort. They are basically a hand gun range, but allow rifles

Hi, I am in Plano, too. Both kind of long-shots, but there is Mission 160 range up at Whitewright, www.mission160.com. They may allow more advanced types of shooting. I also have been to a range called 'Big Boar Tactical' up at Collinsville. It's not too bad a drive if you start early. Their e-mail is bigboartactical@gmail.com. A guy named Tate owns it. He's a police officer in the metroplex, SUPER nice guy. They may be a little more permissive in what they allow.

Not near Plano, but the outdoor TDSA private range in Ferris, about 30 minutes south of Dallas, allows this in their 25 yard shooting bays (not their 200 yd rifle lanes, though). When I was a member, annual membership was around $300.

Eagle Gun Range in Lewisville can hook you up. When I worked there we allowed shooting in those positions (can't take the table down though) and we would just adjust the target down for you to keep you from hitting the ceiling.

I'm a member there. Range is still a little rough around the edges. They're slowing putting more money into it as more people become members and more folks off the street start coming in.

After looking at all the options I think TDSA is the ticket. They are about 45 minutes from me and the membership for shooting all day, 365 days a year is only $350. Here are a few of the benefits as I see it.

    Pistol Range [25yds]
    • Rapid Fire is allowed.
    • Moving while shooting is allowed.
    • Drawing from holster is allowed.
    • Transitioning from rifles to pistols is allowed.
    • We also allow you to set up scenarios using barrels or barricades.
    • Upon request you may park your vehicle in the bays and shoot from inside your vehicle.
    • We allow full auto fire in our pistol bays after a short Shooting Proficiency Test.
    Rifle Ranges: [25-300yds]
    • Full Metal Jacket is allowed
    • Steel Core is allowed
    • .50 and .338 caliber is allowed
    • We allow Binary Exploding targets to be shot upon request and approval.
    • Night Fire is allowed on a special needs basis.
Other Ranges (used for training and shooting matches):
    • 200 yard STREET with multiple cars lining each side.
    • 40 foot shooting TOWER with 4 floors and multiple ports on each floor.
      • TOWER can be used to train sniper initiated entries into STREET and CITY.
    • 200+ yard CITY with multiple rooms all around to shoot into and out of.
      • One large area is designed to resemble and Afghan village commonly seen by soldiers.
      • The CITY can be used for live fire, force on force training, and can take up to and including .50 caliber rifle fire.
    • Both CITY and STREET may be used to shoot from moving vehicles.
    • Rifle range can also be used as 270 degree 300 yard assault course.
I am going to go try it out soon and hopefully it is a great place :)

I loved going to TDSA when I was a member. Only reason I'm no longer a member is because I joined the Terrell Pistol and Rifle Club where it costs only $125 or so per year. Anyway, Colion Noir filmed at least one of his youtube videos at TDSA - somewhat of an implied endorsement from a cool youtube gun enthusiast star!

equin, thank you!!! I have been looking for a range to shoot CMP Rimfire Sporter Matches and the closest one advertised was in Oklahoma. Looks like Terrell has it and also Silhouette matches and Bullseye. It is a little bit father than TDSA for me [1h10m vs 50m] but seems well worth it. Thanks again for the suggestion!
