"...clean house and pass it next session.".....sounds like a plan! Start with Strauss. We need to keep reminding the politicians they're there to do the peoples' will, not wheel and deal the peoples' support to serve their own political agendas...they forgot that loooooooong ago.

(know I misspelled his name, but it needed that last s to go with the a s to really fit him.)
Yep. Lots of bad guys who are supporters of Straus like Byron Cook need to go and will have opponents. Hopefully gun rights activists will get involved in the primaries.

HOPEFULLY we as shooters, concealed and open carriers can all unite and show Austin we want to be heard...instead of the constant infighting and bickering we've seen. We complain that the libs are not satisfied to live as they wish, they want to force US to live like they wish....then we turn on each other and do the same thing. You do your thing, I'll do mine, but if they come at us...shoulder to shoulder wins for us all.

guns.com reported on 5-31 that it passed and went to Gov. They quoted an AP article dated 5-30 that said it passed the House 136-9.
U.S. News & World report said on 5-26 that it passed 136-9.

    The Legislature's sites all say:

    http://www.legis.state.tx.us/billlookup/BillStages.aspx?LegSess=85R&Bill=SB1408

Sucks...being an old LEO who ran cover on our FD on every call in the early 70s because of Black Panther threats on our firemen...I'd love to see them all carry...they're doing a job I'm scared to do!

A lot more than you think EDC .22-that's all I carried for the first 5 years I carried...'course I started at 14. I'd do all my shooting with .22 shorts, and carry .2LR HP.
For many years, .22 was the caliber most people were killed with in the US. I ain't gonna sass Grannie with her little .22...stood over way too many bodies that bled out before the ambulance got there from a 40gr slug bouncing around center mass. I wouldn't CHOOSE .22, but I could make do real well from what I learned on-a 4" High Standard Sentinel Deluxe.
Well, you do understand that FN 5.7 and .223 are both .22 caliber. Both of these are "service gun" class power range.

SB1566...School districts can't keep employees/teachers who have a LTC from leaving arms/ammo that they can legally possess locked up out of sight in employee parking lots.

This one will make me sleep better. As a teacher we had no such protections in Washington State and I always had to leave my EDC at home. God Bless Texas!

Although I have only started teaching for the past 3 1/2 years, I too am from Washington state. I left the Kitsap area of Washington in 2011 for Portland, Or. and found I wasn't happy there either, gave up everything in 2012 and rode the country and finally ended up Texas. Texas has made me very happy with more conservative laws and giving me my dream job, teaching.

Just as a heads up, George Soros is pumping money into the governor campaign to oust Abbott. If you don't know who Soros is, he is worth reading up on. He pumped money into Ferguson, MO after the shooting in hopes to create more hysteria. He has a history of this sort of thing and the money to do it. Like Abbott or hate him, the next governor election comes down to how much we like our guns.
