Justine Ruszczyk, also known as Justine Damond, was shot and killed in the alley behind her house Saturday evening, after she called police to report a possible assault. At one point, the officer in the passenger seat of the police cruiser shot her through the driver’s side window, according to local media reports. Damond was unarmed.

    WTF??

He put a bullet past his partner's face???

Shoot first and ask questions later. Is this for real? A cop shoots the first person he sees in an alley? Right past his partners face? Sounds so ludicrous that it could be fake news.

Justine Damond called to report a possible sexual assault in an alleyway. Damond was not the victim of the sexual assault; she overheard "screaming". Dressed in her pajamas, Damond approached the driver's side of the cruiser to speak with the responding officers. Damond was only 100 yards from her house in the alleyway when she met the officers. The alley has three pole mounted lights plus nine motion-detector lights on garages. At some point during the conversation, the officer in the passenger seat, Mohamed Noor, drew his sidearm and fired multiple shots into Justine Damond through the open driver's side window. His partner, Matthew Harrity, is quoted as being "stunned". No weapon was recovered at the scene, according to state investigators.

I have read -- though I can't currently find the article -- that she was also holding a cellphone at the time.

EDIT 1: Found the article mentioning her phone.

According the ME, she died from a gunshot wound in the abdomen. Reports are indicating she was shot through the door not the open window.

EDIT 2: There is yet to be an official BCA statement confirming, but based on the medical examiner's report, it appears Damond was shot just once ("wound" vs "wounds"), not multiple times as reported previously.

Likely a "sympathetic" shot. That is the officers arrived on scene and the officer in the passenger seat had his handgun drawn, finger on the trigger and pointed toward the "threat" that was approaching their car. There was likely conversation and as the situation developed the officer began unconsciously pressing the trigger until the weapon discharged striking the woman.

Totally inexcusable and the officer needs to go to jail for a very long time.

This is why you never put your finger on the trigger until the sights are on the target and you have made the decision to fire.

A- How does one fire multiple unconcious sympathetic aimed shots? If it was out, not pointed at her, a sympathic shot would more likely hit his partner.
B-Why did the passenger rookie have his firearm out when the driver, who was stunned by the rookie's behavior, did not?

If he was that scared when his partner wasn't, he has no business with a firearm of any type or a badge and needs to go staight to jail.

First round is sympathetic. BOOM! Everyone in the car is deafened and the window explodes. The rookie assumes the round is incoming and not his outgrowing round and he "returns" fire.

I have to call BS on that. If that is a reaction of a rookie, what kind of training do they have in Minnesota? I would like to hear the senior officer's statement on the matter, the story doesn't quite add up to me.

That's some pretty good mental gymnastics. I guess any explanation with the available info would require that.

    How could it happen?
There are likely two scenarios. Mistaken identity or weapon
And accident. The former can be explained with a cell phone mistaken for a gun. The latter with a ND. Then you have to ask what caused the ND and how did it happen.

We would all like all the facts but with the camera on both officers and the squad car turned off we have to rely on the responding officers. That takes time.

Remember this peach of a video about officer ND? It happens more often that you think...

This one gets crazier with each update. You'd figure that eventually we will have some audio of the event. Dash cam won't have much, but we should have some audio. It sounds like an ND, at least if it was 1 shot. If multiple shots then it's going to get crazier. Either way I'd like some fact based evidence before tossing the guy and his instructors under the nearest bus.

To me this reads "Muslim immigrant cop Mohammed Noor, hired in the name of P.C., shoots and kills woman who complained about sexual assault."
