2 1/2 drams and I used a scoop a little smaller than that.
Sounds like you're good to go. I'd probably use 3/4 oz shot if you're shooting for shits and grins but that's just a personal preference.

777 cleans with just water which makes cleanup easier and faster than real BP or Pyrodex. Just make sure everything is dry and oiled when you finish cleaning. A compressor really helps with that.

I have a 16 guage that had this "fix" by my dad.

I took it off (big mistake) and that thing pinched the living crap out of my hand.

Good thing I wrapped this one then lol.

I'm going to the range tomorrow to try it out. I'll try and take a video of it.

Does it look like the base is separating? I only ask because of the ring at the base. Black powder cases will have significantly more discoloration than smokeless will. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless there appears to be stress weakness in the case.

When I shot matches with BP I'd get that sort of discoloration. I'd take an old plastic peanut jar with water and a bit of vinegar and put the spent cases in it right a way and that would cut down on the staining.
They are in the tumbler with some other brass right now.

    Gunz are icky.
A weak vinegar/water solution will acidize the cases. It neutralizes the salts formed from firing BP.
Do not leave them in the solution more than a few minutes as it will pit/etch the cases.
Plain old dish soap and water cleans them just as well.
Remove and thoroughly wash with fresh water.
Remember to scrub the inside of the cases.
    Dry completely.
    Then tumble/reload as normal.
Discolor is normal and of no concern if cleaned.
    Cosmetic thing.

I'll do that next time. There are a couple of spots on these that look off just throwing them in the tumbler.
With BP there is a residue that will react with the brass and create a stain. Some guy gave me a container like this that would easily hold 25 shot shells and 100 45 Colt cases. It was real handy but unfortunately it was without the nuts.
