I have a Kimber Custom II that my brother shot a few thousand times. Zero malfunctions and still has the original springs.

If you have to replace 1911 springs every 800-1000 rounds, I'm in trouble. I would have to replace them each time I clean them.

If you buy a Kimber........I will find you. I have a certain set of skills. I WILL find you.
ETA: I think the manual calls for replacement every 800 rounds, but I could be wrong.
Never owned a 9mm 1911, but my springfield range officer has been flawless so far. Light reloads, heavy reloads, dirty or clean, cheap bulk ammo, or expensive SD ammo, its ate it all for 600-700 rounds and still runs like brand new. So far, I havent had a single jam. My only gripe is the rear sight makes carrying it a little awkward, so I rotate it our with my beretta 92 for my 9mm fix. Same holster works great for both guns!
Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians!
Ordered them from beretta. Here are some better pics. Im a blued and wood fan, so the plastic grips were the first thing to go! They are $49 right now and they are running a special where you get a set of grip screws free. Only issue i found was needing blue loctite on the grip screws to keep them from backing out after a while.Tell me more about the wood grips on your Beretta 92 please.
You didn't have to use the factory grip washers?Ordered them from beretta. Here are dome better pics. Im a blued and woox fan, so the plastic grips were the first thing to go! I want to say i did use the washers, but its been a while since i pulled the grips. Mine started backing out after about 5-600 rounds. I didnt notice it until i had lost one, so i ordered a set of the allen head screws and loctited them in. 800-1k rounds later, they havent moved. You didn't have to use the factory grip washers?

I may try to dehorn the factory adjustable sight first and if that doesnt come out good, Ill probably order on of these! Thanks fir the link!Harrison Design makes fixed sights for the range officer cut. Nicely melted on the corners and edges.

I'm not a fan of Kimber
That sounds like poopoo. 800 round recoil spring life is terrible.
