Yesterday, a listener’s son was offended that his school, Klein Collins High School, displayed the Mexican flag prominently. His mother called to complain, and the school wouldn’t return her call. The student took the sign down.

The school pitched a fit, reviewed the surveillance tapes, found the student, and suspended him for 3 days. AND he has to pay for the flag. In light of the SF story of students sent home for wearing the AMERICAN flag because it offended the Hispanic students, I thought you’d like to know about a story closer to home.

Right here in our community. Feel free to let the school know what you think. You pay their salaries.

Klein Collins High School (832) 484.5500. Assistant Principal handling the case: Mr. Shelly Dick. Seriously.

Call Mr. Dick and let him have it. The Superintendent is Jim Cain.
You realize, I assume, that if a student removed – or even burned – the AMERICAN flag, they wouldn’t do anything about it, I’ll bet.

Anyone else here think his last name pretty well sums him up?

General Sam Houston took the Mexican Flag down in 1836, The United States Army and Texas Rangers used it to walk on in 1847, if that Flag is so important to folks living in the US, maybe it needs walking upon again !

I haven't had a chance to read the whole story, but i'm wondering if the school will classify this as a 'vandalism' type of 'crime' with the flag not even being an issue. It would probably be no different than taking down all the announcement notices that the staff displays throughout the school.

This is America! I have and will continue to fight and bleed next to anyone, regardless of your race or cultural background as long as you love America as much as I do. If you come to America and fly your native colors in remeberance or celebration of your heritage, thats cool with me as long as it's in moderation. We should all be celebrating the fact that regardless of where you came from, or what language we spoke, once we set foot in the states legally, we are now one!

I recruit out of that high school, my mother retired as a teacher out of that high school, I know almost all of the administrators on a first name basis. I think I need to go have a talk with some people.

Man that is such bull, reminds me of the guy that removed the American flag from a pole because the mexican owners of the business had placed the American flag under the mexican flag.

Give that kid a medal! I would have done the exact same thing.

and I have to do a good ole nelson HA HA on the name Mr. Dick

This is an interesting story. The original story isn't exactly accurate. As it turns out, the flag was not flying on the school's flagpole. It was displayed on a wall as part of a Cinco de Mayo display. The boy says he measured the height of the Mexican flag in the display and the American flag, and found that the Mexican flag was display 4 inches higher. The spokes person said that the Mexican and American flags were displayed in different areas of the school.

I can't say I'm pleased with the attention given to Cinco de Mayo in our public schools, but it appears that this situation isn't quite what we thought it was.

How can we ever expect immigrants to assimilate into our society if our schools continue with this political correctness nonsense. It's ok to be proud of you race/country but you came here for a reason simply do not expect America to be like your old country is that really what you want.

Personally I would never send another kid to public school as it currently is managed.

becasue it freakin sucks in mexico.

so we shold obviously let them come up where where it doesnt suck.

so they can transform this nice place into someplace they can feel more at home.
    we shold fly their flags
we should shit in the streets,
we should let them beat us up, kill our cops and le them buy their baseball bats to do it with our money.
we shoul;d also give them free healthcare, (like we have been doing for yaears and years)
we should under no curcumstances say anyhting that amy offend them, take the US flag and lay it at their feet to keep the mud off their sandals when it rains, and we should sacrifice a decent education for our children so that they can get on the same mental level as thes freaking idiots that are poisining our land.

in short, we need america to suck as bad as mexico.

then they will move up to canada and do the same thing.
but then they are boned, cause fromt here it is across the bering straight to russia. and it ALREADY sucks there.
