The Alamo stays but every statue and placard around it will be changed out. San Jacinto, Bexar and Goliad will all get the same treatment.

    Dallas Texas or so
Heard on the radio that there are over 20 new confederate statues going up around the country. Mostly on private property and one is in that hard core southern state, Delaware.

Someone should add all these destroyed monuments to this list...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_destroyed_heritage

Be interested to see if they kept it listed.
The talk page for that article is clear that the removed Confederate monuments do not qualify for the article because they haven't been destroyed, only relocated. It's a distinction without a difference but that's what they're hanging their political hat on.

OTOH, the monument in Durham was clearly destroyed.

I've been editing on Wikipedia for many years. I wonder if I should go help that article.

ETA - In case anybody can't tell when I'm being sarcastic, I've already started the process of "helping" that article.

    Out here by the lake!
Back when I was safari hunting in Africa, everything in RSA was being converted name wise to african names. The Northern Provence was remamed The Limpopo Provence, Warmbaths was renamed Bella Bella. It's all revisionist history! "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

    .

    Therein lies the critical distinction.

I'm thinking relocation v. destruction is an enormous difference.

If the statues are to be removed it will be some consolation if they are ultimately placed in a place of study, a museum of sorts, where future generation can understand our complex past.

History must properly be studied rather than tragically being destroyed or, worse, just forgotten through intentional neglect.

Germany is admirably working to preserve, remember, honor and lean from it's painful past.
    Example:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolperstein
    detail:
    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:GS_0793-Peralta.jpg

So must we work to preserve and learn.

    To All,

Even though I'm one of the few living descendants of Dame Pocahontas Smith, daughter of Deep Stream (called The Great Powhatan), I believe that cities who change the names of holidays and/or remove historical statues/monuments are, in just 2 words: STUPID HATERS.

ALL of such prejudiced/ignorant/undereducated DOLTS fully deserve being removed from their current offices & prohibited from seeking any other position "of public trust".

    yours, tex

    Agree.

Well, in a perfect world, choosing to remember or forget or, worst of all, erase history should not be a democratic process.

    History is historical.

History should not be decided by vote, which is pretty much what's going on.

The dolts to whom you refer are doing it to stay in office!!!!
