Any effect on accuracy? Did you do it by hand?
I drilled 3 different depths. Shallow (as pictured), medium and deep. Here are the weight changes:

    40 gr starting
    39.5 gr shallow
    38 gr medium
    36 gr deep.

I couldnt see a significant difference with the shallow and the medium out to 50 yds. At least with my shooting ability (where did I put that anti shake spray?) The deep drilled bullets were a bust. Group opened up bigtime. My guess is the weight shift causing tumbling.

Here is what I used. Bought it used from a guy on rimfire central.

Im using the med depth for hunting.

A whole lot of tedious! Prepping 223 cases. Sizing, depriming, measuring, trimming, cleaning the primer pockets, uniforming the primer pockets, and inside and outside deburring, as well as occassonal primer pocket reaming. Only got about 250 more cases to go, then i can load!

Are they that much better than the 40 grain hollow points I’m shooting now?
I have yet to find a hollow point that will pattern anywhere near the aguilla super extra standard velocity ammo I use. CCI SV comes close enough that I bought 500 rounds thursday, but they are solid point too.

I shot two tree rats today with them. Both were bang flops with not even an attempt to crawl off. One in the neck, and one through the pump station. Didnt really notice any extra damage, but there was a very audible THUMP on impact that generally wasnt there with the RN. Nowhere near a big enough test sample, but so far, so good. Now if I could make myself shoot better off hand, id have had a bunch more data today (clean misses on 7 or 8, all due to shooter error).

30-06 rounds are ready. Love the SST bullets. I load them in all our hunting calibers.

These are 165g on top of a dose of IMR 4064. During my shuffling things around I found a new unopened bag of Winchester brass.

Got to try these out on a 300 yd range this weekend. My scope is not the best (I thought it was awesome until I got on a 300 yd range), but I was able to shoot grapefruit sized groups. I am feeling much better about my upcoming hunt.

I went through the mountain of 12ga hulls and wads I picked up. Still have a couple thousand 20ga hulls to go through though.

Working on getting some red Dot and some lead shot so I can load up some of these.

Well I sold 1500 12ga hulls and about 7000 wads. I also made a deal last night to sell about 750 20ga hulls.

Came into work this morning and this happened though... I'm going to need to find some load data and some bird shot now!

Yesterday loaded and test 3 rounds of 50 BMG 750gr Amax over 230gr H50.

Afterwards loaded another set of 3 at 233gr H50 that I'll hopefully test today.

Jesus, I could load 10 223s with that much powder

Sent from my LGLS991 using Tapatalk

There's about a dollars worth of powder in every round. Hoping to make 2700fps before any pressure signs creep in. 230gr got me 2575 so I'm not sure I'll make it.

Loading far over the lengths given in reloading data so I'm running about 100fps behind most available data for the same charge in similar barrel lengths.

Just starting to approach the recoil and muzzle blast levels of factory loaded Hornady. Probably take what I can get from 233gr if accuracy is sufficient. No intention of going past 235gr. (2gr over listed max at 2.45 COAL, mine are 2.75)

Sticky bolt is usually the first sign of pressure and I'll drop back from there.

Well I picked up another trash bag full of shotgun hulls. I have these damn things coming out of every orifice...

I finally got every thing sorted out by caliber and type. I got a 4 pounder of red dot last week and picked up some primers and a bag of shot. Going to start loading some up this weekend.

If anyone needs any hulls let me know. If anyone is Interested in a cheap mec let me know. If anyone has a pet 12ga load let me know!

Last night I prepped the last of my 6.5jap brass and got it primed. Once I get a load dialed in I'll be set. I started on my batch of 223 brass and got most of them sized but still need to trim/ream/debur. I think I'm going to take them to my friend and run them through is wet tumbler after that. They just aren't getting that clean in my old dry media anymore. Maybe it's time to buy some more.

Wet ss pin tumbling will get them cleaner than new. Best $60 I ever spent on case prep was on a harbor freight rock tumbler, a magnet and a 5lb bag of ss pins. Takes longer, but they sure get sparkling clean, even old dirty tarnished range brass.

This is all old tarnished range brass. I ran it all through my dry media and it looks better but still dark. I've seen how his comes out when it's done.

Go to the auto parts store and pick up a can of Dupont Chrome Polish. Put a couple of tablespoons in some gas to dilute it (it evaporates fast, I guess you could use alcohol, anything that evaporates fast) and sprinkle it on the hulls. Run them in the tumbler for a little bit to distribute it and load the brass.

Im Not trying to clean the hulls. I'm just trying to get my 223s a little cleaner. Though I have not heard chrome polish, I have heard nufinish. Theoretically, shouldn't any metal polish work? Or is there something particular about nufinish?
