Hey Guys, I just bought a Savage MK II FV. I did a good cleaning went to the range and I get at least 3 rounds, out of a 5 round magazine, that stay in the chamber. I have tried Blazer, Federal American Eagle and Auto Match, CCI and Aguila ammo. Same problem with all of them. I took it home gave it another good cleaning, removed the band around the bolt and removed the extractors cleaned everything really good. The extractor looked good, nice sharp point. I went to the range again and same problem. Now when I load the magazine and work the bolt without firing the rounds, they all come out with no problems but as soon as I fire them, they get stuck in the chamber and I have to use my knife to get them out. You guys have any ideas I can try? The gun is very accurate for me by the way.

What do the fired cases look like when you get them out? Does anything look abnormal with them?

Sounds like there is an issue with the chamber. The reason they are getting stuck after being fired is that the brass is expanding. If the chamber is rough, it would make the brass that much harder to extract so the extractor is slipping off of the rim of the case.

I have the same problem with my fv-sr. Once it starts to get dirty, brass gets stuck (especially M-22 subsonics, CCI SV goes the longest without problems). First thing is scrub the hell out of the chamber with a brass brush and hoppe's, then lube generously. Second thing to do is clean the crap out of the bolt, remove the spring clip holding the extractor and ejector, scrub everything there well and lube well. Before replacing the spring clip, bend it in a little bit to give it some more tension around the extractor and ejector.

Edit: Youtube is your friend for messing around with that spring clip. There are also helpful people on rimfirecentral's board.
