I have a Custom II that my older brother put 2k-3k rounds thru and it was his EDC for a few years. He never had a failure and I haven't either.

From what ive heard and read, the older kimbers were awesome, but their newer stuff has gone way down hill. Never owned one myself though.

Ive had great luck with my 709 slim for about 1k rounds. Ate everything ive thrown at it (including some really light reloads my s&w sigma and beretta 92fs wouldnt feed at all). Ive been impressed, but Ive also seen 2 different ones that were junk right out of the box so i guess its hit or miss.
