Tea actually has more caffeine then coffee, it's just that often tea is more diluted than coffee. One week I hear how bad coffee is for you, the next I hear how beneficial it is. All I know is, for this Seattle boy, do not get in the way of me and my coffee in the morning.

I usually have my two cups of coffee in the morning and that's it for caffeine for the rest of the day. Very occasionally I'll have a cup of tea in the afternoon, but usually only for a warm-up when I've been working out in the cold.

The rare times when I don't get coffee in the morning I don't have problems or turn into a monster, it just takes a little longer to feel wide awake for the day.

Could I manage without coffee? Most certainly. Do I enjoy having my morning coffee? Absolutely.

Hey, I'm doing good. Down to about 4 a day now. Maybe 5. Unless I'm off and then 6.

    Pots that is.
I think you're joking, but people like that exist. My 7th grade science teacher was like that. Had a pot before leaving for school, about 3 pots during the school day, and he said usually a pot or two after school. Very monotone, calm guy.

If you ever meet me, you will re-elvaluate the statement. Just sitting around, driving or anything similar, a 20 ounce cup at least every 30 minutes. I generally drink a 20 ounce cup on my 15 minute breaks.
My sig line is true, I'm a coffeeholic. And I don't want help.

    And here I thought I drank a bunch ;)

I can, and often do, drink a cup of coffee before bedtime. My head hits the pillow and I'm out like a light. Which got me thinking, what would happen if I gave up all caffeine for two weeks? Would I have withdrawals or something like that? Nope, nothing changed, which also surprised me. I've had exactly one caffeine buzz in my life, from 3 cups. After that, nothing nada zip zilch. Even caffeine pills don't do anything except make an empty stomach feel odd. I don't get it.

I'm not convinced coffee is necessary (even though billions drink it daily) to "wake up". While I'm not expert,

I've had a caffeine sensitivity most of my life and have to be careful with it; just 1 pot of black tea and I've got the shakes for much of the day, and going to bed a bit later.

SO because of your sensitivity we all should stop drinking it ? A good ribeye is not necessary either should we not eat them any longer?
Yes you are not an expert.

Lighten up Francis; it was a simple challenge to see what you can do without for preparedness. A lot of people claim they NEED coffee to function which is patently untrue.

I have coffee in veins. I'm often kidded about the amount of coffee I drink. Although I have drank coffee since I was a teen, I really started drinking a lot more after I quit alcohol.

Some people have an opposite reaction to coffee. When my oldest was little, we would give him about 6 ounces a half hour before bedtime for several years. Knock him out like a hammer. Yup, he was a little hyper.
I have been know to fall asleep with a cup of coffee in my hand if I sat down and relaxed. Have a cup on the nightstand too.

A holic is a holic. One reason I quit dring alchohol as well.

Ground coffee stores fine in airtight containers. But if the world suddenly runs out of coffee or easily accessible coffee...is it even worth living for anymore?
I've never had a cup of coffee in my life, and I'm 58. I can't stand how it smells, so why should I put it in my mouth? I drink plenty of tea (hot or iced), so no problems with caffeine; however, neither my wife nor I are users of coffee.
