Middle son Garrett at his first Steel Challenge match at Area 59 today. I shot too, same rifle. We had six 30 round mags so that was no problem sharing a gun.

He had a great time and wants to come out again soon.

The link loads the photo. As long as your little guy is wearing a green shirt and shooting a bow. Looks like he's really enjoying himself.

The other three benches had (non forum members) shooters with ARs fitted with brakes and fancy red dots. They were cranking on their adjustments and shooting buckshot sized groups.

We shot 2 rounds to sight in and she had at it. She went after the numbers on the target after the center got blown out.

The kids at the meet-up warmed my heart. Dawico, I was thrilled to see her there and get to meet her. Congrats.

    Warning - Off Topic...but just a little
I was told by an instructor once that women tend to be better shots than men, something about having better eyesight.
I pretty much never use my NRA cert to teach formal classes with multiple students. However, I've taught many women in a one-on-one setting. My observation is that women are easier to teach than men (yes, this is wildly generalizing) for two reasons:
    • They don't have as many bad habits that need to be broken.
    • They don't have the emotional baggage of men, most of whom seem to feel they are the metaphorical descendants of John Wayne and don't need no stinkin' instruction.
The late, great Louis Awerbuck, one of the finest firearms instructors who ever lived, said:
The best class you will ever see is a dozen 14-year-old girls who have never fired a pistol before.

My “kid” finally made time to go out to the range for a little bit of pistol practice. His gf stayed in the car but at least that’s a start.

I just wanted him to get some range time.

    He can still shoot.
