I got screwed by race-based standards.

For college entrance, my Asian DNA meant I needed a 4.5 GPA to get into the UC system.

My meager 3.1 GPA meant the best I could do was a state school. I didn't even know it was possible to get more than a 4.0 average LOL

But my counselor did tell me that if I was Hispanic or Native American, I could have gone to a UC with a scholarship.

That conversation forever shaped how I feel about race-based ANYTHING.

We hired a white guy once that couldn't read. Couldn't even read an address for the job he was supposed to go to, much less a map to get there.

If he had not been of the desired race he never would have been hired, period. Desperation causes strange hires. They had a quota to meet. Kinda like the ones they hired out of NYC that had never driven a car in their lives. They had to stay after school for driving lessons.
