Yeah I tried to just let it go, but couldn't and had to make a follow up post for people to read also. It just didn't sit right with me.

I have no problem showing my LTC but something about a complete stranger having my address and personal info just doesnt sit right with me.

And honestly, a valid LTC should be enough for the skeptic seller. I only sell/trade to other LTC holders mostly. I push for an FFL transfer otherwise unless you are normal. That has a broad definition and is subjective but if you show up looking and talking like an illiterate retard, I am not selling to you. If you don't speak english, nope. If you are dressed like you just pulled a driveby, nope.

I have never had a single issue selling/trading with an LTC holder or a non degenerate with just a Texas DL.

Absolutely agree about profiling people. I don't care if people think it's wrong. I should be able to use my better judgement to make a wise decision. If that includes not selling to the thug homie, white, black, Mexican whatever then I will not. Even if you are an old timer driving a new vette to the meet I'm not giving up my home address.

Apologies for asking, but if you showed your LTC, (mine still says CHL) wouldn't the viewer have your CHL & DL #, your birth-date, expiration date of license, hair & eye color, sex, height, weight and address; or is it you think folks wouldn't remember the details of what they saw?

I realize most folks in 2018 have the attention span of the average gold-fish, but there are still folks that have decent cognitive functions, along with the ability to retain what they have seen; are there not?

My last private purchase was from a LEO who didn't even ask if I was a resident or legal to own. Did not ask to see my DL.
A few months ago I traded a couple rifles with an officer. Never brought up bos, felon or resident. We BS'd for 30 minutes and never even came to mind. It really is best use your own judgement.

If somebody could memorize all that info by just viewing the LTC they deserve to rip me off, lol.

I believe you are confusing "eidetic memory" with "photographic memory", (which is a learned skill) rather than a trait folks are born with - I'm guessing youngsters no longer appreciate skills such as this, but they are still taught to those in the military are they not as memory exercises?

I may be older now, but as a young whippersnapper I read more than most and was always fascinated by how folks attained these skills, not unlike the skills of the sightless, which have heightened senses far above the abilities of those with sight - which can also be learned, provided one invests the time.

ps - just for grins, as my billfold is over in the PU (in the barn) and not on me at the time - did I get the "order" of things correct on an old CHL license - call it a senility check test, just wondering as it's too cold outside and 100yards or so over to the barn.

I should have let this thread die, but things like the post below just give me a nice lol. Thought some others may enjoy it. I especially like the part about how people who decline to do a bill of sale are felons and up to no good.

Not even attempting to see if you will negotiate. I mean let’s be honest, we are all on here to make a deal

I almost never negotiate, if the price is right for me I'm in, if not, then no. Guess that makes me shady to this guy.

Most people aren't rain man. But if they are and if they do, then that is fine. Someone is always at my house

Oh wow he has updated his original post significantly. I'm sure from all the backlash including me he recieved from the original post. The guy just doesn't seem to grasp it. He appears to be one of those who wants your information, but probably not will give out his.

    San Antonio!
Most people don't understand how much of their personally identifiable information is already available. Even something as simple as a cell phone number can be easily used to research other info such as a person's name, address, etc. It can all be obtained legally with no hacking involved, which is why it is imperative not to voluntarily divulge any more info than you have to. If a seller requires data that isn't required by law, then I will walk away from the sale. If they don't trust me, why should I trust them?

LOL, we probably bought guns that had been confiscated from criminals.
    I jest, I jest.

Actually, that is quite the conundrum for many police departments. Some see it as a great opportunity to fund items the department cannot afford otherwise, others worry about the ramifications if one of the firearms sold is later used in a crime...

I know the SAPD has something like 10,000 weapons locked away that are scheduled for destruction. I've been offered a tour, but think it would be too depressing knowing the fate of all those firearms. I am sure the vast majority are probably nothing special, but there could also be some real collectibles in there as well.

Given that they don't have the same hesitation with vehicles or other potentially dangerous items such as chain saws or other power tools (I've worked several asset seizure auctions for the SAPD), I guess it just comes down to the liberal biases the city government has towards guns. Sad... :(
