Have a AR Pistol that is needing an optic , wanting to keep it small and light to stick with the concept of what I have going.
looking at Holosun, Trijicon MRO, Used Aimpoint Micros, Vortex Sparc, Also the Primary Arms Micro Dots
and possibly a Trijicon RMR, or a Vortex Viper
just looking for reviews from guys that have one of these if not multiple , Thanks!

I have a PA microdot that's been swapped around from ARs to .22s

It's worked well, held zero, etc. The knob is a little stiff to rotate but otherwise it's worked well. The emitter can be seen as a flat spot along the edge. Lens coating blocks a little light but seems to add a little contrast. Not sure if this is common among red dots and have nothing else to compare it to. Standard PA microdot, not the advanced.

I've been satisfied with it overall. My needs didn't justify the cost of an Aimpoint or similar.

I love my Aimpoint. I've had it on .22s, .45s, a 9mm carbine, a .35 Remington pistol, and an ultralight .340 Wby rifle. It has taken everything dished out by all of them. The dot has remained a dot instead of a misshapen blob. The adjustments remain repeatable. It was expensive but ultimately it was worth it, IMO.

Second the Aimpoint micro. I got 2 of them and they're what you've come to expect from AP. Super long battery life, simple to use and tough.

If I had to do it again I would have gotten two H-1s instead a T-1 and H-1. Not much point with the night vision settings on those micro sights. It's like looking through a green tube at an even smaller tube. Not worth the few extra $$$.

I got one of the manual switch RMRs too. Had some issues with oil seeping inside the underside into the battery compartment and causing the sight to flicker. Seems you have to order an additional watertight floorplate to seal the bottom. But if you overtighten the mount screws with the sealing plate in place the sight flickers off or won't turn on. I have to baby my RMR to keep things just tight enough but not too much to make it work right. Not what I expected from a Trijicon product :(

Ya cover'd a lot of optics ground - I own ML2s, M2 Aimpoints that are working on AR rifles today, some for decades, I own a Aimpoint CompM3 and a CompM4 working on others for years also, I own several T1 Aimpoints, since they came out and an EOTech too, on more ARs.

You cannot go wrong with any of these IMHO - provided your wallet can stand the cost.

The TruGlo Micro Red Dot linked above is a bargain, I have 2 of 'em, had one for almost 2 years, the other roughly 20 months. They were placed on ARs for testing and have been used regularly - they are the same, (liked the instant on and bought another) have a 2 MOA, dot, crisp and clear just like the T1, (save the expensive lens coatings and they glow less visibly IMHO when view'd from the muzzle end of a rifle) and are basically Holosun clones w/ a TruGlo label, not unlike those sold by PA, bet they all are made on the same street.

The best features - Both are still running on the same batteries they came with, have never failed or given me any issues at all - they have 2 or 8 hour shutoff (you set which) and when ya set them intensity wise and manually shut them off - at any time later, a day, a week or a month or 3 mos. later ya can grab that AR up - jack a round in the chamber and aim KNOWING that the 2 MOA will be there, at the level you last set it at and "on" ready to go - WITHOUT EVER TOUCHING THE SIGHT.

No - I'm certain the batts won't last years, if constantly on setting 8 like my T1s or CompM4, but the sight linked to above when used as I described don't need to be ON ever and comes ON automatically with any slight bump, (none of my other red-dots do that although they cost 6-7 times more). I have not baby'd them in any way, they have been knocked and toted around and neither has ever needed re-zeroing. BTW, the lower 1/3 mount comes on them, ready to mount outta the box.

    Hope this is some help.

The biggy with Aimpoint and Trijicon is that they retain value. Truglo doesn't. It's a $30 sight before and a $10 sight after. I have a pile of red dots. Tasco, truglo, another tasco. The whole pile is probably worth $30. An imported Aimpoint pro is worth at least 5x as much and unlike the other lesser sights, it'll stay expensive. Surplus Aimpoint comp m4s show up at the pawn here and there. For a battle scared, beat to almost white metal, lenses scratched. It'll run about $400+. They don't stay unsold for long either.

It may seem odd to buy a $450 to $800 sight for a $250 10/22 but it's the last sight you'll buy. Nobody down trades a truglo for a trijicon. You can buy the lesser sights all day long. All it does is make the Aimpoint more expensive.

They really are worth the money. I've knocked a tasco red dot off the rifle. Popped it off the sight base. I dinged the living hell out of a comp m4 and it almost tore the sight base off the rifle. I tripped over a junk bicycle doing some night hunting. The sight took a scratch. Absolutely no loss of zero. Every since then, I buy Aimpoint and save the heartache.

Ya ever tested the TruGlo I linked above?

I took a T1 Aimpoint off this lite-weight build, placed this TG on it, expecting just as your rant above suggests that I'd be putting the T1 back on it in weeks - That ain't happened yet, so unless ya got anything to report, from your testing on this cheapo red-dot, perhaps ya should try one before ya bash one. (I got Aimpoints from the 80s still running strong, I know how good they are but not everyone can afford to drop $800 on a T1 or CompM4)

I'm not buying one. It's an Aimpoint replication. It's not fault Aimpoint is top of line American. If you're getting upset with about me calling out your purchase....you're an adult so cope.

Should've bought the real deal instead of limping along a cheap sight. I didn't make it nor did I sell it to you. Get mad at who sold it to you.

I have a few primary arms sights and can attest they are great for the money. I have had the advanced micro red dot for a few years and mounted it on several things. It holds zero every time and it has not had an easy life. Obviously it' not an Aimpoint, but in it's price range it is a solid option.

I'm with oldag, I've owned the Aimpoint in the past and now own a PA and I can say that if not as good, it's about as close as you can come at about 1/3 the cost.

Note: If cost is not a factor, then buy the Aimpoint, it does have a better warranty, but on both the battery lasts 50,000 hours.

    The Aimpoint is probably tops.

Primary Arms advanced is solid if one cannot afford the Aimpoint.

I saved for six months to buy the compM4 I had. That one was stolen. If you want something that's reliable money. A return on what you paid and an extremely slow depreciation. Aimpoint. You can afford it.

Appreciate all the answers so far, will look into the TG sights, this will be going on a 7.5 AR pistol that I got on the cheap side, so not looking to spend more the 250-300 on a sight. Might be saving up for an Aimpoint on my next Noveske build tho :machine:

I would look into Vortex. I have a bunch of their sights and they all function well. Plus the lifetime no hassle warranty is nice.

What about the TRS-25? I've had good luck with those and they are inexpensive (~$50) even compared to other inexpensive ones.

I also have a PA and a Vortex. The Vortex is the most expensive out of the lot, but I'm not sure there's anything to really justify that.

Although I would say there is a noticeable difference between the TRS-25 and Primary Arms Advanced Micro dot to justify the cost. Besides the warranty of the bigger names, you are also paying for the name and reputation as well.

I have several Holosuns running on everything from AR, AK, VEPR12 gauge, M1A Socom. Eotechs on same kind of stuff. Vortex on 300BO. I recommend them all, but i like Holosuns the best. They make PAs micro dots and Sigs red dot, they just change the names. Same sights. I like the solar feature i have on a few.

Does Holosun actually make PA and Sig sights?

Or are they simply made at the same Chinese factory as nearly every other affordable sight, and the brand name affixed at the factory?

In any event...I'd buy an Aimpoint new, but since their warranty isn't transferable I wouldn't buy used.

I currently have a Meprolight M21, I think I like it but really need to put a lot more rounds downrange using it, perhaps take a carbine class.

If I bought another red dot it would probably be a Leupold ACO or Vortex Razor AMG UH-1...

Holosun is unique in that the factory has their own brand and makes for us. We will continue to offer versions with our preferred features and PA designed double sealed turrets and carry the full lime of Holosun.
