    The Woodlands, Texas
I live in the woodlands but am looking for open public lands that I can shoot at in North Houston. I'm thinking outskirts of Conroe?

I'd prefer shooting rifles outdoors, and would love to have the kids shoot off of tables outside.

If someone has private land in North Houston and would allow me to shoot on their land, that would work too. I'm happy to exchange some photography for the privilege.

I ... am looking for open public lands ...
    Welcome to the forum.

I'm going to be explicit instead of cute.
    • Expect lots of ribbing on this site. It's the nature of the beast.
    • Everybody ribs the new guy.
    • You're a new guy.
    • You seem to be from some place where they have "open public lands."
    • Welcome to Texas!
    • Texas has little "open public lands" and none near you where you can do what you're asking.
    • If you want to shoot rifles at rifle distances, you'll need to go to a public range or, preferably, join a club.
    • See: https://www.texasguntalk.com/threads/greater-houston-gun-ranges.62225/
    Hope this helps.

Definitely, we need to put the Houston crew back on the map again. Those outings a few years back were awesome.

Yeah I was more talking about the lunches. Although my little girl can't wait for her next range visit, she talks about the last TGT reunion all the time.

I have a free pistol that would probably fit her pretty well. It's far too small for me but might be about right for her. I'll make sure I bring it next time.

You mean the exploding cars? We no longer have Curtis to make that happen.

Drifting OT, here, but if someone wants to start a thread on "Making Reunions Great Again", I'd join in the discussion.

That was actually a rule change by the range. If there were a suitable location I'm sure interested parties would find a way to make it happen again.

Oh, yes, I know. After the last fiasco, I don't blame them. I only meant that Curtis tended to do a lot of heavy lifting when it came to getting cars for the events and disposing of them afterwards. Someone would have to step up in a major way if those happenings were to be put on again.

I'm sure you're right. As we've seen, though, finding a venue isn't easy.

When I win the lottery I'll get a couple thousand acres somewhere and host it.
