So I'm on the Gun World group on Facebook, which is 90% trolls. Pretty Entertaining.

Anyhow, someone posted a pic of their new AR, they were super stoked on it... black and FDE or whatever. I looked at it and it did nothing for me... I didn't even care as to what brand it was.

Anyone else just not too into ARs?
They are fun to build, fun to shoot... but something about them just irritates me. Maybe they're too popular lol.

So... who loves them and why?
Who doesn't care for them too much?

FWIW I currently own 4 or 5 complete ARs, one of which is a nicer LWRC, 4 or more receiver sets, and have sold off a few over the years.

So I'm not a hater. I still plan to build the rest of my receivers one day, and I still need to get quality optics on pretty much all of them.

I don't love them. I really don't get a kick out of shooting them at the range and prefer a bolt action.

That said, I have one that works very well for a couple of specific purposes where I haven't found a better alternative. It is perfect for hog and varmint hunting day or night out to 150 yards and my 9yo daughter hunts with it with the stock collapsed. I haven't found a bolt action with a short enough LoP.

I may build another upper with a 20"+ bull barrel, but only because I already have the upper completely assembled that I don't use. So I'd just do a barrel swap.

I'd like an A2 style rifle with 20" bbl and fixed stock for sentimental reasons. Wouldn't get shot much.

In the end though, my preference is a bolt action and far away targets. Mag dumps at 50 yards don't interest me.

I love them as long as I have a real use for them in roles that other rifles don't fill.

I have an 80s colt sporter HBAR with detachable carry handle. Pretty cool rifle but heavy as shit for offhand shooting.

    I sure don't hate it.
    Poll is lacking.
    Respect. That's my vote.
Much like the 1911. I respect the AR15.
    Not pretty. Not sexy.
    Just a workhorse .
fair enough, although if we're generalizing, respect falls under history

    My best years are history.
I'm just a little older than the AR.
    Yeah, respect.
It's done right by our men and women in uniform for a few decades. Jungles and deserts. Had it's low points for sure.

I'm very careful not to use the word "Love" in conjunction with firearms. Libtards like to describe us as using firearms in sexual satisfaction or to boost a sagging Libido.

While the subject is at the surface, I can't IMAGINE people like Pelosi, Schumer, Feinstein and others actually having sex, touching or being sexual in any way. Yikes!

    Nope, I don't love guns.

Meh, take them or leave them.

I have a few and like them but they are not my first choice for fun guns. They definitely fit a certain role and excel at it.

I usually hate the ARs owned by other shooters at the range. Huge brake, red dot sight, and no way to see holes in the target.

Need to switch off TaT to see the poll I guess.

Only have two in .308 and they are both piston driven. Don't mind them but the hype around them isn't for me. I have many other guns I prefer.

I enjoy AR15s. Only have two at this point, one for longer distances 200+ and the other for 0-200 yards.
I find them fun to shoot, reliable and the magazines are cheap. That said, I am not into having a million AR15 builds sitting around. Never really got into that whole thing although they are fun to work on. I always find myself selling/trading any ARs I build, outside of the two I use regularly.

I think I am more attached to my AKs at this point in time

I have a few ARs and have fun shooting them but they are definitely not my favorites. Single action revolvers, lever rifles and side by side shotguns are at the top of my list.

AR's are like women in my life. They come and go. I'll have them and they stick around for a while and I throw money at them and I enjoy them. Then usually get tired of them and move along. Still have three though. AR's that is.

I've shot an AR pistol and had a strong sense of meh.

Still, I'm glad we have so many options.

I am a simple man, I see an Anchorman quote and I vote for that.

I'm a tinkerer. The fact I can not only customize one to my heart's content but assemble one completely from parts appeals to me. I only own one now but have a stripped lower ready to be built.

I enjoy owning one because it's a rifle that politicians think I shouldn't have.

The M-1 is still my favorite rifle.

my biggest regret still is srlling my saiga Nov/Dec 2015 thinking I'd just buy another one.

something about the decent kick, and the hallmark bolt/charging sound.

I can't bring myself to sell any, they are. the few guns that don't fetch what you invested in them, and I just prefer to not sell guns.

I drug them around since 1977 but never felt the urge to own one until recently. I bought a lower and built a pistol! It's now my fave!

pistols are definitely the most fun

see above. my 6.75" does attract attention due to the comp, and my 10.5" 300blk is "kinda" fun to shoot

See, thats me. I love the mechanical aspect.
Maybe the issue is I don't like other people's ARs
