There's more to a car than just the mechanicals. The fit, finish, and quality of materials used tends to be much better on German cars than any others. Folks who LS swap them have the best of both worlds after the sorting out period.I honestly fail to understand how it can be a "quality" car if it requires that much attention to keep from shitting the bed.
if you say so... My 35yo bimmer doesn't have any squeaks and rattles. The GM vehicles I've had were clapped out after a few yeas of use. How many German cars have you owned long term? The fit and finish is to such a degree that split floor boards and cracked subframes are a plague. Things like structural foam and complete replacement at miles in the 40k range. M3 is especially junky. Reports on the E46, subframe cracks.
Das Auto. It's all marketing. You're buying the name over quality.
some VWs have that same smell. Like crayons or something.I've ridden in several but never owned older BMW's. Despite the weird smell they all seemed to have, the universal thing I noticed is the interior felt utilitarian but solid. Newer German cars don't have that feel, they're much more luxurious, and look like they may not hold up as well. Domestic car manufacturers seem to have finally picked up on the desire for better interior materials, fit, and finish though. Especially the imported Australian cars from GM. I've had a GTO and a G8, both were really nice.
I was at monster jam last weekend. Kind of a tradition as I love going. Brought my wife this year (generally opts out of motorsports though I usually drag her along anyway) also had my 3 boys 6, 5, 18mo. The little one had the most fun, yelled and screamed the whole time.I haven't done anything, but I did go to MonsterJam yesterday. Same as last year, I get home and start looking at lift components lol.
Now I want to step up to 8" and 38s on 16s. I always try to steer clear of trends. Even my current 20s are classic 8-hole style
I do still aspire to get s bigger turbo/sticks/fuel and run a 12.99 or better on big tires. But that's not a minimum $5k and guaranteed transmission destroyer View attachment 131172

I honestly think about selling my diesel and getting a bronco and dropping in a 556 stroker or something stupid in it. Gotta love the heavy loping uncorked BB sound...I was at monster jam last weekend. Kind of a tradition as I love going. Monster Jam is a neat venue as most people don't understand the physics of a 11000lb 1500HP truck jumping 20 feet in the air, doing wheelies and backflips all Willie nillie.
It is one of the pinnacles of extreme motorsports.

My 10yo BMW has the same solid feel as the old one, but is more nicely appointed. The leather is thick and wearing nicely, and the plastic parts and buttons feel substantial; not "plasticy" if you know what I mean. No squeaks or rattles and "solid" is just a good adjective for it. Only complaint is there are some items that have a rubber over-molding that has become tacky as over-molding tends to do. I hate it when manufacturers put that stuff on tools because it never holds up, but you can't get away from it now.Newer German cars don't have that feel, they're much more luxurious, and look like they may not hold up as well.
I liked the G8, too... It's a bummer they killed it.Domestic car manufacturers seem to have finally picked up on the desire for better interior materials, fit, and finish though. Especially the imported Australian cars from GM. I've had a GTO and a G8, both were really nice.

I will say that mechanically the most reliable vehicle I've ever had was a c1500; after they finally redesigned the intake gaskets that is... It looked like shit from the cheap paint and cheap interior materials, and had a permanent CEL because the computer thought it needed a re-calibration that can only be done with a GM scan tool, but it ran and drove great.
Still like it. Even in the wrong thread.Edit- Wrong thread
Thank you - its my first "Nice" vehicle. Fully loaded, handles nicely too.
