New Ruger American Ranch rifles feature detachable AR type magazines(Only some calibers)

I think this is pretty cool actually. Makes me want to buy a bolt gun and actually hold on to it

I don't understand why more manufacturers don't use standard mags for their rifles.

Guess that would be too simple......

The Mossberg does use standard mags of all sizes, but just like an AR off the bench, the long mags get in the way when shooting that way.

That's why it's good to have some 10 or 20 round mags. I use 20 for bench shooting with my AR.

Some of the Mossberg models come with a threaded barrel and a flash suppressor. That makes them more deadly. In fact, I thought I saw a Mossberg model with the shoulder thing that goes up.

Part of the issue is getting bolt guns to feed right from standard AR mags. Never seems to run as smooth as a mag made for the gun.

Because Savage is on a roll for making bad decisions, and I really like Savage products.

They’ve canceled a handful of really great rifles, and replace them with cheaper models. They dropped 6.5 caliber from most of their Law Enforcement line (where they have doubled down on 308, which is sliding in popularity). They are still in love with their proprietary magazine, which is expensive and hard to find.

I’m thinking that one of the Ruger American Predator rifles will soon find its way into my safe. Magpul has promised a replacement stock for it any day now, which will allow AICS magazines.

Right, indeed, though my friend's Ruger works like a charm.

I suspect Ruger made the gun for the mag rather that the other way
    around.

Their longer action .308 and 6.5CM rifles use the Accuracy International pattern mags that have bought on pretty well.

I'm finding myself wanting the one made for AR mags chambered in 300BLK.

I just grabbed up one of the Ruger Ranch rifles in 223 just because it uses the ar mags. I have been waiting for Magpul to release their stocks because I have a Ruger Ranch rifle in 300 blackout and want a magazine with more capacity. They were supposed to have been released late 2017, but I am beginning to wonder if they caught wind of Ruger and their new rifles using the higher capacity mags. I had one of Magpul stocks for my Rem. 700, and it worked just fine.

I have one of the Ruger American Predator rifles in 6.5 Creedmoor. I paid $395 for it at a LGS. I also have a custom built Remington 700 in 6.5 Creedmoor. It has a Bartelin barrel and custom action work. About $1,500 in gunsmith work. A total investment of 2K including the rifle.
My Ruger will shoot 1/2" five shot groups at 100 yards. So will my custom rifle, but at five times the cost!
Ruger is building some mighty fine rifles these days. Maybe that is part of the reason Remington filed for bankruptcy protection.
