Microtech auto out the side are very reliable. I’ve carried this one for many yrs and never had an issue. Microtechs out the front are very sensitive to lint build up especially if oiled even just a little bit. TNHawk try flushing your Microtech with lighter fluid or mineral spirits. Lots of info on getting them to run well out there.

Picked this Helly Tec OTF on a whim at the boat show yesterday.

Don't know much about the company, but came with a lifetime warranty.

Any advice on if I got hoodwinked out of $60, please let me know. I'm a big boy.

It's all about the blade steel. If it's 440A you got ripped off. If it's 440C, average price. If it's a designer super steel, you banked.

    Appears to be 440C.

Blades a little wobbly when deployed.

Just saw another vendor selling the same knife under a different name for $70 so I don't feel so bad.

You'll see a small bucket of cheap folding knives on a shelf by the check out in the store. Those are 440a. It's the lowest grade of stainless knife steel. 440c is leaps and bounds past 440a in all aspects.

The Benchmade infidel I carry has a very slight wiggle when the blade is deployed. No biggy. It'll be easy to get $60 dollars of use. Mine ran $400.

I bought one of those for my daughter a couple years ago, and it’s still running strong. I realize she’s nowhere near as hard on knives as I am, but I wasn’t expecting to last 2 years when I paid $50 for it.

Just remember, when you drop it and the blade starts flopping around loosely, it’s easily fixed by slamming it down on something solid, butt first. Much much easier than taking it apart.

I have to open and close mine before I put it in my pocket. I used a gun oil and the when the oil mixes with pocket lent. The blade won't lock in on retraction. On deployment the button might be sticky. It's like I have wake the knife up.

I need to soak it in some gasoline or mineral spirits. Use plain old WD40 to 'lube' it down. It works a lot better when it's bone dry. Nothing that'll take pocket lint.

I’ve been carrying a switchblade daily for a few months. I have a few cheap ones (Kerahaw and Schrade) and one good one (Microtech). I have never had them open in my pocket.

Judging by the effort it took to open that FedEx package, perhaps a knife-sharpener should be on your list....... :), (bet that Microtech will do better - here's a few blades)
