I have been considering a decent high entry level / mid tier level AK47 just to have something chambered in 7.62x39. I figured the AK platform was the way to go as opposed to an SKS or Mini-30 (although I do want an SKS also).

$600 at nearly all gun shows in DFW. Texasguntrader will be around that price as well. Havent checked gunbroker in awhile but last time I did, same thing.

If anyone is in the market for an SKS, currently their costs are:
Norinco -$3-400
Yugo -$4-450
Ruskie - $600+

I personally feel the Yugo is superior but it is one of my favorite rifles ever

Shameless plug, I am selling a Yugo M70(OPAP sort of).

Aside from that, look at Arsenal, WASR or a converted Saiga or VEPR. NPAPs are nice as well but I am unsure if they have had issues recently.
