That is really cool! It seems these days that the police in some other states would have any seized/found gun melted down that they can at the first excuse. That is exceptional that this sheriff is actually trying to help return one to it's rightful owner.

beautiful gun. hope they find its owner. but most of all we should say thank you to a man who takes his job for what it is suppost to be, " to protect and SERVE". that gun means some thing to some one. even if it is the family of the man who it belonged to. You can tell it was important to him, he put his girls picture on it, and that had to be a chore back then.

Hopefully the scumbag who stole it will try and pawn it.Otherwise I do not see the owner ever getting the gun back.

The gun has already been down that road. The gun is in the possession of the Parker County Sheriff's Office. They are trying to reconnect it with the rightful owner. Nobody is trying to "find it" as they know exactly where it is, just not who it belongs to.

He is a good guy, but it is also the difference between a rural Texas county and the Big City. The county seat (Weatherford) is only 25,000 people and dwarfs the other towns in the county. Overall, a great place to live - I could never go back to city living.

I gotta get back to Weatherford. Every time I go to see my parents I see people that I know in town. Gibsons is a little bit pricey on their guns but I still buy from them sometimes because I worked behind the gun counter as a kid. Great town. Shame it has gotten so big.

There was a similiar story in one of my gun magazines. I believe that they did find the owner from the picture in the handle in that one. Pretty cool stuff.
