A while back I swore I'd never go back to Red's in Pflugerville, and having read other comments in the time I've been a member of this forum, I wasn't alone.
So I felt it only fair to Red's to say I've changed my opinion of them.
A couple of weeks ago or so, I ended up needing to get two rifles on paper at 25 yards, so I reluctantly went there.
Gotta say, it was a good shooting experience. Everyone there was friendly and treated me politely. Even when I inadvertently screwed up (rifle pointed downrange but upwards towards the target cables, trying to read the scope reticle dial with old eyes), their RSO politely corrected me and was friendly doing it.
It was pretty crowded with a lot of shooter's friends/family behind the line by the time I finished, but considering it was a Sunday... understandable.
It's about a hours drive for me from Rockdale to get there, but when I need their 100 yard range, I'll go back.

You didn't mind the percussion? Last time I was there is was like getting slapped in the head every time a round went off.

Red’s is better that it used to be. I believe they improved the lighting and air filtration.

I still won’t go when it’s busy, but they’ll get my money when I don’t want to drive to liberty hill.

With all the bullet holes in the building, ventilation was never a problem.
Ha! Your not kidding! Last time I was there I saw a small maybe 9ish year old kid shoot 2 rounds right into the ceiling with an AR because he wasn't tall enough to see over the bench. I had to to flag down the RSO and get the dad's attention. He was loading mags while letting the kid shoot. After the RSO talked with them they left. So did I. If I cant shoot on private property I prefer to drive out BOTW and rent a tactical bay. Much safer and just overall a better shooting experience.

I have been a member of ARC for many years. It is a club and there is a membership process as well as specific rules on what you shoot on which ranges. There are no RSOs, I generally go during the week for pleasure shooting, practice. Often the only one there. Check out austinrifleclub.org for details.

There is a new member safety evaluation and orientation the first Wednesday of the month. I help out at the evaluation and will be there this Wednesday.

Went to Red's North this week. Nothing appears to have changed since I was there 2.5 years ago when I was visiting my daughter here. Now that I've moved to Austin, I decided to try it out again. Nice enough place to shoot. I'm spoiled for indoor ranges because I was close enough to the NRA Indoor Range at their Headquarters to shoot there. The NRA uses computerized target placement by feet or yards. Red's is a bit touchy to get the target to where I wanted, but really, except for the 100 yard range, it really doesn't matter as you should always practice at odd distances to keep sharp. But, it was not expensive, close enough and not very crowded. Probably will try them again after I shoot a couple more indoor ranges mentioned in the chain here.
