I ran into Academy today to see what Votex they had and they didn't have anything on the shelf with greater than 16X
And they didn't carry .204 Ruger ammo, in any brand

I was sort of hoping to find some Hornady at least but I'll just order bullets, brass and dies and start fresh
As for a scope, I am pretty sure I will go with Vortex

    Good luck finding brass.

It is a nice piece of glass, I just don't really want a 50mm objective if I don't have to.
I'm going to check out the reticle on it

I need a good scope for my 45-70. I wasn’t going to scope it but my eyes aren’t what they used to be. Since I’m almost as old as vmax, I need something bright and fast aquisition, but tough enough to withstand hot loaded 45-70.

I would look into something like a Pro-Point or EoTech. Fast acquisition and no matter where your head is where the red dot is the bullet's going the same place. I had a couple of EoTech's on AR's and it wasn't hard to shoot 1-1.5 MOA groups at 100 yds.

Mind if I ask why you no likey the 50mm? More light... More shoot...
    50mm means tall rings
Guns dont fit in cases well, just dont look right to me on anything but an AR
Plus you dont hunt prairie dogs at night and , if I'm after something else that night that's what I got spotlights for

Since I know you already bought the scope, can we stop recommending them?

After my experience with Steiner, I’ll never own or recommend a Burris product (they bought Steiner). Service was awful.

For the money, I really like SWFS SS scopes.

You don’t need as much magnification as you think. I shoot a fixed 6x out to 500. I dropped a small coyote at 310 last weekend with it.

    I’m really leaning towards a 3-15x for my 204. https://swfa.com/swfa-ss-3-15x42-tactical-rifle-scope-6.html

He needs the magnification cuz he’s shooting little bitty prairie dogs from a couple hundred yards away.
