That's correct. As of day 7 here is my daily intake for the past 6 days: 210, 445, 138, 340, 511, and 340.

That is going to cause issues internally. Intentionally eating that massive of a deficit, even if all you did was sleep all day will end badly. I eat around 1600 calories a day since most exercises are off limits due to asthma, neck, and back issues. If I had a pool I could probably do a bit more but as it is, I just watch what I eat, limit fats to good ones as much as possible, and ensure that I don't go too far into a deficit. Otherwise I would risk weakening bones, fatigue (even though this is already an issue) and metabolism issues, and a myriad of other things.

Well, there is a substantial amount of research about the 500 calorie a day diet; some medical professionals recommend 2-5 day limits, some up to 40 days. Of course there is always variations on how you approach the diet, especially in regards to fats. If you bypass the calorie intake issue there is also medical support for complete fasting for significant periods of time. At one time, I fasted for 10 days drinking only water, tea and light fruit juice. Did this after researching the effects of fasting as well as the benefits.

All of this was a lot easier when I could just eat sensibly and then spend a couple of hours a day in the gym pumping iron and working the machines. Now, washing the car or mowing the lawn is about the best I can muster, hence the dramatic approach to weight loss.

So far I am averaging 1 lb a day loss. Will post results as time passes. Thanks for the concern.

hey, do what you want to...It's your body
I just would never go below 1200 calories a day for a man.
Do you know what your TDEE is?

If your BMR is 2000/day, that's what you need just for normal body functions, digestion and hormone production.

    losing weight it mostly math.
A lb of body fat =3500 calories
If you can eat 1000 calories under what you are burning each day for a week, you can lose 2 lbs a week.

310lbs back in June. 237 this morning.
I am 6'4. Doctor told me I needed to lower cholesterol. He suggested I eliminate carbs, sugar, and any food that spent time in a deep fryer. I work on an oil rig, that is 95% of the food served. I bit the bullet and did it. Also walk 3-5 miles a day on the helideck and do 300 push-ups a day as well as 200 crunches. I am currently waiting for my latest bloodwork. I suspect my cholesterol will be lower.
If it isn't, I am going to get a bucket of Popeye's fried chicken, a quart of red beans and rice, a pecan pie with a half gallon of Amy's Ice Cream and a fifth of bourbon and imbibe until I puke.

Have not had a beer in 5 months.

No beer in 5 months? Yikes... You deserve a light 6'er man!

I've been averaging a beer per month.

I've been eating grass fed beef for a couple years now. A friend introduced me to it. He lowered his cholesterol by 50 points, and it was the only diet change he made.

Grass fed beef is rich in omega 3's. (Like fish oil). Store bought, regular beef is protein finished, and is high in omega 6's, the bad cholesterol.

With the grass fed beef, no cokes, and almost no beer, I'm down 27 lbs. slowly going away, and I have more energy.

My old diets would zap me of my strength and energy.

Back in January I had bloodwork done...

    Glucose 117
    Triglycerides 472
    Total Cholesterol 256

Couldn't Calculate my LDL because Triglycerides were too high.

Both parents diabetic for decades, Dad has been on insulin about 8 years now.

Doctor just told me to lose weight. Said work out and cut carbs. That's it. He said I had a chance of never developing diabetes, but if I do get it, I could control it easily with weight management and exercise.

Have done the low carb thing in the past and it's always worked, but I always "fell off"
Did it twice already since my appointment and it was mildly effective.

I'm now doing the Keto Diet. <20g net carbs per day, high fat. Weight loss is slow (for me), about 11 lbs in 3 weeks. But I give myself 1 cheat day a week to ensure I don't completely abandon ship. And it literally makes me feel disgusting.
Since it can take 2+ days to get back into ketosis, the cheat day does really "waste" almost half a week. So for the 2 days following, I use an exogenous ketone supplement 2x/day to put my body into a temporary ketosis. All this is doing is helping my body burn sugars and use fat as fuel until I'm back into ketosis naturally. That and it turns my ass into a texture hopper.

I drink 2 muscle pharm protein shakes a day, every day. 1, maaaaybe 2 small or moderate meals per day.

I am/was the guy who could hit a buffet and devour 4 plates full of crap food. A few weeks ago I got full off about half my 16oz ribeye.

When I do get hungry I snack on real peanut butter, string cheese, or avocados.

I have been telling myself to work out since January, still haven't. I have an irregular schedule, well - that's my excuse anyhow. Next bloodwork in July.

started around 203lb, was 192lb this morning. Goal is 180lb. maybe less. maybe bulk up after.

I had posted on FB about the Keto Diet and a million of my friends replied with fantastic results. It's definitely an eye opener seeing as all the processed carbs and sugars are all man made... we're coming to a realization that glucose, cholesterol, hypertension is all weight related, and the body was probably designed to operate on something a little more like the Keto Diet.

Biggest benefits (over atkins, protein, etc) is the reduced appetite. High protein diets always left me wildly hungry. I would leave Saltgrass starving after killing a 16oz ribeye, salad, and vegetables.

Oh, I gave up soda for Lent. Sometime during Lent I read about how bad splenda is. Depressing because Coke Zero was my crack cocaine. I have been drinking powerade zero, and need to cut that, and go straight water. Haven't had a soda since Lent started. Other than Monster... I'm a road warrior. Need my caffeine and a hot coffee isn't always satisfying.

I also have been working on the keto diet to lose weight. I've also been trying to limit my caloric intake to about 1550 per day. I work shift work and regular exercise is tough. I dropped 20 pounds easily but hung out at around 240. When I went out of town for work I gained 10 pounds back. I have recently started better portion control and the last 4 days have limited my calories to about 1100. I've lost 2.5 pounds without exercise. I'm about to go ride my bike for about an hour now. I eat a healthy smoothie/shake when I wake up and eat about 6 oz grilled chicken with veggies for lunch and salad for dinner. I also eat apples and other fruit for snack instead of peanuts or almonds because it's more filling. I'm also drinking much more water per day. Twice a day I pour a Keto OS powder in a glass of water to drink to help with ketosis. My ultimate weight goal is a modest 200 lbs.

You need to stop having a cheat day and limit it to 1 cheat meal per week

    Calorie deficit, energy balance

If your brain begins to understand that the bad food you eat is hurting you...it is easier to avoid bad food choices

I'm well aware of the shitty meal choices lol. Last cheat day was awful.

i haven't counted calories but I'm probably sitting around 1000 calories. I'm sure if I exercised more I would work up more of an appetite.

I probably used to consume 5000-10000/day

If you are 100% honest and log everything you eat, you might have a wake up call as to how many calories your are taking in with food and drink

If you want to effect any real change in any part of your life, you have to be able measure it first ....

Everyone has their own methods to fight weight...but most of the problem is in their head. I started what I called a chili diet a couple months ago, and it's worked well for me. I hunt feral hogs regularly, and started saving some of the meat and cutting it up into bite sized pieces for making chili. I add lots of green chili to the pot, along with beans, tomato sauce, etc....
I figure the pork is protein, the beans are fiber and the green chili helps keep the whole thing working it's way through my system. I had a fairly good sized bowl of the chili with some club crackers once a day and did coffee and flavored water for the rest of the day. Occasionally I have a small bowl of dry roasted peanuts mixed with dried cranberries for a snack.
I started the diet at 246 lbs. and now I weigh just under 200 and feel great for a 73 yr. old guy.
To each his own and you just have to establish something that has a chance of working for you and you can wrap your brain around.

Get yourself a Fitbit activity tracker and set it for you to be at a decent calorie deficit like 500-700 day
It will track how many calorie you are burning through the day and you can adjust your eating according to that

People lose weight when the expend more calories than they eat over a period of time.
That is the science behind it.
