It's gotten more complex and things are more slippery. 20 years ago , you'd have to be holding someone hostage to get your door kicked it. Then 9/11 happened and every constitutional protection has been watered down to the point.

You'll get your door kicked for the wrong Facebook post.

I don't like it either but they're the boss.

I was strictly referring to quantities that dealers held at their house.

Yep. The vacuum packed bags of cannabis coming from Colorado and California are in the weight range of lots of pounds. You'd think it wouldn't be everywhere but it is. Now it's as common as drinking a beer.

Fast fact. Every single person that works at the local convenience store is a smoker. Every one. One lady shares a toke while sitting in the parking lot on her break. The store has enough cameras to make the NSA jealous. Nobody bats an eye.

All those swisher sweets, White owl...3 pack for 99 cents. Nobody smokes those things unless they gag coughing. They use them for something else. They sold 'Cones' for a month. But couldn't keep them in stock.

It's not just smoke anymore... by the time I left, edibles were big in Colorado.... and I doubt they're less popular now.

Frequent news stories about tourists who ate too many edibles, because of the delay for them to take effect- and they call 911 because now they think their face is melting off. Or worse, they think they can fly.

    Now I'm confused.
Do dealers now days only have an ounce at their house, or do they have pound weight, which is it?

Exactly. Which is it? Is it pounds or ounces? Out in public delivering it to the final user. It's in under 2 ounces. Avoids a felony if you get pulled over. They 'Re-Up' after they get rid of the 2 ounces. Always staying in the safest least law breaking amount.

How much do they have in the house? Or in houses spread along a neighborhood? Grandma has 5 ounces. Mom has another 5. Cousin Leroy has another 10....

    How much do they have???

This thread is about a bust at a house.
You said in post #18 that dealers never have more than 2 ounces.

I stated that back in the day, that was not true.

Then you started talking about dealers having pounds at their house, which is what I remember
    from "back in the day".

I don’t think any quantity of weed should be grounds for a no-knock warrant.

I’m curious to know how much they really expected to find.

    An ounce is a ticket.

    Several ounces?
    A pound or two?
Get a regular warrant, that amount is pretty large and isn’t gonna get flushed quickly.

I find it hard to understand why a No Knock raid by SWAT in the wee hours of the morning would be any more effective than having a team of plain clothes snatch the kid as soon as he left the house during the daylight hours and then serving a search warrant. They know it is just him and his parents and catching him in the open on his way to the garage or just backing out of his driveway is much safer than doing a Rambo Raid for something that is not a capital offense. Perhaps if we are talking about a major Cartel distributor for heroin or cocaine, but these things happen often enough that you have to question at what point up the ladder to these operations receive the okay to move forward.

Because there's all that SWAT gear and training; and the drugs and weapons and cashed all stacked up for the juicy photo op.

Not even for a semi trailer load?

What would be the purpose of a no-knock warrant?

    The perp ain’t going anywhere.
The evidence for sure ain’t going anywhere.

A regular warrant serves the purpose, methinks?.

There’s no way in hell that amount of weed is gonna get flushed down the toilet while the cops are knocking on the door.

the resident surrendered as soon as he realized his home was being raided by police ... has resulted in a 13-year prison sentence
Well if that trend continues I guess there's no point in surrendering.

Our country is on the verge of making police a protected class which would tack a 10 year federal charge for injuring an officer. I'm afraid this BS will never get rolled back politically, at best we will need alot more jury nullifcation to keep our nation free; at worst we will need to exercise alot more 2nd amendment. :/

I pray eventually more people will open their eyes to the true failure that the drug war is and start to curb this excess, but I'm doubtful.

When I was about 14 I moved to a new area, and made a couple of new friends that were my age. One day I was walking down the road with one of those guys, and he told me we were stopping at this house so he could get a joint.

We go in, and there sat two undercover cops, while the "dealer" smoked a J with another guy. I knew them both, because my dad was a cop. I could not get out of there fast enough. Told my friend that I had something I had to do. My dad didn't talk to me for a week. I never said a word to anyone that I knew those guys. No clue if the dealer got busted.

    Freaked me out.
