I figured your trusses would only go to the inside edge of the containers not across the whole thing.

Could have made the covered area 15' wider.

Just not how I pictured it going together.

    Looks good though.

I showed a picture early on of the basic idea.

I'm not sure how I could have made the covered area 15' wider
I've seen them built with the cover just being between the containers and to me that just looks wrong
I wanted the benefit of having a roof over the tops. That will help with the heat inside them

Its being built just like I had planned it

Slide the containers out and mount the trusses on the inside edge instead of the outside edge (still on top). Then add a tube extending the truss slope to the outside edge of the containers to carry the roof all the way out.

Looks like your trusses have enough height at the bearing ends to work.

It is just what I had in mind when I saw your trusses and how tall they are at the ends.

I'm thinking that if he'd wanted 15' more between the containers, he could have ordered 55' trusses and dealt with a lot less trouble than cobbling some tubing together with the 40' trusses. The latter would also cut down significantly on the storage space he wanted above the containers.

True but adding length to trusses adds to weight, stability, and cost. There is no need for the trusses themselves to span over the containers. I get him wanting to roof over the containers but it doesn't take trusses to do that.

He could have added the width with what he already had plus some extra tubing.

But if he is happy with it that is all that matters.

When it's complete, send me a map of the route from my house to your property. I'll determine if it's worth the drive for me to show up, drink my ass off, and trash the place.

So why suggest what he *could* have done, especially after everything was in place and welded up? Rhetorical question, no need to answer.
It still would be easier to change now than after completed if he chose to do so.

I am just suggesting something that maybe he didn't think about.

Looking good, that'll be a real nice shelter. Plenty of space underneath, will allow the breeze through, and provide much needed shade (especially right now). I like!!
