I have an itch I need scratched. I have been researching and trying to find a suppressor ready full size handgun. I know everyone is going to say try before you buy and I will but I want to run some research by you. At the top of nearly every 9mm test comes the CZ SP01. They all trickle down from there with FNX9, Springfield XDM, Glock 17, Beretta 92FS, Walther P99AS and PPQ, couple Sigs...some throw HK VP9 on there depending on age of test (and who's testing). The ones that seemed to make basically every list were the SA XDM, CZ SP01 and FNX9. I know we have some members that have fired everything but I am mostly interested in those 3 unless you have a great story or argument for a different model.

Honestly the best gun is so perspective driven I'd hate to recommend anything, but all the regulars on this forum know that I'll stand by the TP9SF by Canik until the end of time. They cloned a Walther P99 and it can be had for the 300 to 350 mark. If you're ever up in the DFW area you can shoot mine all day long.

Of the guns you list I've only not fired the Beretta 92 and the FNX9.. They're all good guns, again I think it's mostly personal preference.

I believe for carry that it is very preferential but for a home defense something has to be put together better than the rest. The competition guys all seem to carry the same stuff (mostly). Something must be better about it if they all have the same few guns.

I don’t know if you have any interest in adding a red dot. The Walther PPQ Q4 TAC, is a really nice combination. It is hard to beat a stock Walther trigger. Combine it the flexibility of adding a red dot, and it becomes a bargain.

The stock sights are just a touch low compared to the CZ. The CZ would be my second choice, with the FNX last.

The VP9 is ok as a host, but the older USP9 Tactical has a tempting package if you don’t need the sleek new ergonomics.

    Good luck!

A red dot would be nice but many of the threaded barrel variants come with the taller sights. I guess it could be a co-witness. The XDM comes in a threaded model or the OSP for red dot. I wonder if you can get both.

Sp01 with suppressor sights. Very pleased. But imo the most important thing is how does it feel and what gun best puts your trigger finger in that goldy locks zone. For me its the cz75 series. For you? I look forward to seeing what you pick.

The SP01 apparently weighs quite a bit more than all the polymer stuff out there. Was it something you had to get over or was it "so balanced I didn't notice" good as some tests have claimed?

Oh no...it feels heavy. Lol. But when my brain says full size, I'm not as judgmental on the weight. That steel frame on the sp01 along with a loaded mag is pretty heavy buuuut repeat shots with a suppressor are nice. If you plan on just running it suppressed like I do, sp01.

The only reason I got my sp01 was in combination with my sub2000 and running both suppressed only. Pretty much for critters.

Well I'm going to mention the S&W M&P 9. Worth looking at.
I appreciate the input. The M&P unfortunately didn't make a single top 10 list or even a top 20 list that I saw for full size, including the $1000 performance centers with red dots. They may just be S&W haters? I know these guns can be found in the hands of pros but for some reason or another, it never makes the list.

Come to the range on Saturday and I'll let you shoot my 99's and PPQ...

The only CZ I've shot is the 52 pistol so I can't chime in on the 75s or any of the others on your list.

I owned and shot most production division handguns trying to find the best one for me in USPSA competition; Glock17, 34 M&P9L/Pro, Sig 320, P226, Beretta M9/92, XDM 5.25, CZ 75 SP-01, FNS, HK VP9, Walther PPQ, Tanfoglio Stock II and eventually picked the SP-01 platform. All of the above are great quality and accurate guns but at the end of a long and expensive experiment; I shot the CZ better because it fits my hands better more than any of the above. I hope you find what’s best for you.
