Investigators said it all started when the man’s wife pulled into their driveway Tuesday night. Then the two armed suspects jumped out and tried to rob her.

First, they took her purse, and then they tried to force her into the house. However, that is when her husband showed up.

He heard the commotion from inside, grabbed his gun and ended up exchanging gunfire with the intruders.

Fortunately, the couple weren’t hit, but one of the suspects was hit in the head, police said. The other suspect took off running.

Police said the injured suspect was taken into surgery.

    I don’t know, man.

Didn’t that husband think about the collateral damage that could occur before opening fire in a residential area. And really, what about his backstop? I wonder where all those other bullets went.

I mean really, he should have just de-escalated the situation and called the police who would have peacefully ended this situation without any gunfire at all.

If he would have used frangible ammo he wouldn't have to worry about collateral damage AND the guy he hit in the head would be DEAD. His head would have exploded like a pumpkin.

The bad guys shot, too. They probably wouldn’t have shot first if the husband didn’t bring a gun.

I’m just a firm believer that unless you’re on fully enclosed range that guarantees all bullets fired will be safely retained without exposing anyone to any chance of being hit for any reason, then it’s just unsafe to spray and pray in situations like that, you know.

Bone fragments exploding can cause collateral damage. Someone could lose an eye like that.

Do you really believe this. In all police shootings ever recorded their hit ratio is about 15%. In all CHL shootings recorded the hit ratio is well north of 50%.

The hole idea of frangible ammo is once it hits it comes apart. There would be no exit wound for fragments to fly out of. They would expend their energy in the bad guy turning his insides into tomato soup.
