Mornin/evenin, who the heck knows anymore! Hope everyone is doing well!!

Wife is still recovering from back surgery so I have to pull double daddy duty with our 1 and 6 year olds for the next 6 weeks as she cannot lift over 5 lbs. The one year old came down with a stomach bug last night, so its been a very interesting day/evening.

Right now, the wife and baby are asleep so I finally got to slip out and work on a little project I have going. Its a full scale model of a 1911. Im 3d printing all the parts and assembling them as I go. Here is what I have so far. The barrel is on the printer right now and should be done in about 5-6 hrs. The frame took 14 hrs and the slide 16 hrs to print! Basically, when it is done, it should function just like a 1911 except it wont fire live ammo (obviously). Assembly and disassembly should be identical to a real one as well.

Workin in this heat. Move out at 7, finished by 9 or 10. Hide in office the rest of the day:green:

Had trouble with that well the other day. Had to flush 300,000 gallons out on the ground. Really hated to do that but thats the rules <rolleyes>

    Wish it was MY yard.

Explain to a city dweller why you need to flush a well.

    Mornin!.... Coffee!

    City water is better?.............. Ok.

Comes out of the same aquifer. I realize it's chlorinated but that's OK. Cost wise a well won't compare. Over the past 12 years I have paid abt $6,000 for water. Around here that won't even get a well drilled much less pay for the electricity to run it over 12 years. Just makes sense to me.

If you add vitamin C to chlorinated water. It chemically converts it. 500mg tablet per 10 gallons. Throw in a tablet in cooking water, plant water, and drinking water. You can over do the vitamin C to make sure all the chlorine is converted. A cheap bottle of 500mg tabs at family dollar runs about $3.50.

Ok, how much electricity does your well use per month???

We have used well water ever since I moved in to our place in Aug. 1977. Our original well was 66’ deep but when you pumped out too much, it had to recover. Drilled a new well that’s 125’ about 30’ away and no volume restrictions but it has a mild sulfur smell, so we filter what we drink. I would NEVER use a public water supply unless it was forced on me.

In Oklahoma, land owners have rights to 2 acre feet of water per acre of owned surface land.

I have a separate Electric Service and Meter on the well.

Cost: ~$17/month (months before freezing temperatures).

Cost: December, January and part of February) ~$100/month when using an electric heater in the Well House. I used to use a 75 watt incandescent light bulb. It worked and it was cheaper, but my Wife feels more secure with the heater.

The pump is a 1/2 hp, 220VAC, Stainless Steel Submersible made by Grundfaus selected because the Motor Controls and Starting Capacitor are external (up in the Well House). Starting Capacitors have a higher failure rate than other components and Grundfaus’ design allows replacement without pulling up the pump from 120’ down the hole.

Waterline Length: (pump to well house to home) is 1” PEX buried about 2’. The total length of waterline is about 500’.

On our place I’ve used both Jet Pumps and Submersible Pumps, but I’ve also repaired the Lift Pump on my Wife’s family’s Cattle Ranch a few times. By a wide margin of advantages, I recommend a good Submersible System. If you are considering having a well drilled, I also recommend having it ‘Cased’ all the way to the bottom as a precaution against a cave in. It costs more, but once it’s paid for you’ll forget about the difference.....
