Say Goodbye to the Suzuki. A gentleman is coming from Corpus to see it. I took a nice and slow video of the bike while it was running. Inch by inch of the whole bike.

We have an appointment on Saturday. My customization of a bobber is moving forward. Come Saturday, somebody will be rocking it by the Texas coast. Hopefully some bikini clad women will be lathering upon it.

It's almost sentimental. If that was the only bike Ill ever custom up. Not the case by a long shot. So long Suzuki...May you be the best trim magnet you can be.

    How many miles so far?

It's too freakin hot to ride except for early morning.

Also, do you have any roads that aren't just straight?
Anywhere to get into some twisties?

195 miles today. It was 106°. Wasn't that bad.

The only twisties around here are the turn around under the overpass. The somewhat curvy roads have a speed limit of 30. Residential no go.

The only place I know that has the curves. Is out going towards Schwertner. South east direction of Salado. Farm to Market stuff. It's decent road. In the day time. At night it's littered with deer.

I need to go buy oil and a filter. It's time for the first oil change. Ill change it again at 500. Then at 1000. After that it's whatever the manual says in synthetic oil. Mineral up to that.

I stuck about 5 Nickel sized rare earth magnets to the bottom of the oil filter. Stuck 3 smaller size to the drain bolt head. Hobby Lobby specials.

Put the PAIR valve back on the Suzuki. The PAIR valve allows unburnt fuel mixture to be injected into the exhaust by the exhaust port. Furthering burning it for a cleaner exhaust. It's an emissions thing.

Only American bikes have the device. European Suzuki not so much. The reason it's removed is because it causes a gurgling sound in the exhaust on deceleration. A funky flappy gurgle.

Stuck it back on the bike because it was showing a fault code. Not because I removed the valve but because I forgot to plug in the air temperature sensor located on the back of the air box. The "FI" light would come on and stay on.

Fixed. No codes, no little red light, no drama. Emissions controls are back to the way Suzuki made it.

at 240,000 miles my 2000 toyota land cruiser developed a miss/stall when at a stop. Went for the easy stuff first. Replaced fuel pump and filter not it. Cleaned the MAF and Throttle body nope still doing it. Replaced all 8 coil packs and plugs and its made it a day now without stalling so I am knocking on wood :) it is fixed.

I have to admit Toyota did it right for changing plugs and coilpacks first time I have tried it on this car and from getting tools to putting them away less than 2 hours. I think its the first time I have ever not had a frozen plug or bolt when working on a high mileage car.

I'm not suppose to tell you this. Japanese cast iron has more nickel then American cast iron. The rings do not wear the cylinder wall the same as American. Higher quality steel on everything else. Beautiful alloy machining and casting. Everything is built heavy duty but light. Following the Japanese frame of mind. Less is More.

I personally think Toyota is the devils ride. Me and them have a curse about working on one. I hate them, it hates me.

Outside that. Some Japanese engines are blueprinted from the factory. Precision.

I've got a Shoei that I've had for about 18 years now... It's a great helmet, but I've barely used it. I've been using a cheap ass modular for awhile and really like that design. I see Shoei makes modulars now. Should probably stop being cheap and get one....

Helmets only have a shelf life of 5 years, trash it

Wow, that gentleman wanted the Suzuki. He had his mind set and when he looked at the bike. It was done in his head. You could physically see him thinking it's His.

    Sold.

It's off to Corpus Christi, Texas. He's going to be cursing it on the beach. Pretty neat one of my customizations was admired that strongly. It's more bada$$ that I made someone extremely happy. The best part.

    Long live Suzuki bobbers.

Looky here. A 100hp motorcycle. It's got too many miles but I can plan and scheme.

    https://killeen.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1983-kawasaki-kz1100/6647190574.html

Remove the seat and replaced with a handmade custom in real leather. Cut the rear of the frame to get rid of the passenger crap and install a frame loop. Fenders go bye-bye. Different headlight, handlebars. Turn signals gone. Relocate the license plate. Remove the two side panels and clean up whatever is behind them. Engine cases polished. Carbs synchronized. Maybe open exhaust. All four separate pipes.

Make it into something really nasty.

Not quite 100hp, but they were great in their day.

Had a friend who had one, but not this model with shaft drive. It was the chain drive sportier version, too long ago to remember specifics.
Long story short, he was a gear head and put a turbo on it.
I was living in Corpus at the time and we were cruising on SPID late one night going about 80, and he pulled the front tire and rode a nice wheelie.

That's nothing for bikes nowadays, but back then it was pretty spectacular.

ETA: This was back in the 80s.

Check this one out. The problem being you don't know who built the motor. If the person was the least bit off. It's a busted engine case with a rod poking through waiting to happen.

This is the same bike as on the original Road Warrior but without the flaring looking headlight. It also made an appearance on CHiPs the TV show.
